What’s Going on with Buck Prices?

I was curious and made some quick calculations. As a percentage of my gross annual income, 250 gallons of gas costs me half as much in 2021 as it did in 1976.
During that time period the cost of gas had increased by a factor of 6 but my income increased by a factor of 12.

In 1976 MSRP for a 110 was $22, I don't know the street price then so let's say $20. One can be purchased at Walmart for about $40 today.
The 110 price increased by a factor of 2 from 1976 to 2021, 1/3 the increase of gasoline prices during the same time period.

My conclusion.... Bucks have never been more affordable, I'm going to spend my gasoline savings on more Buck knives.... :) :) :) :)

Agreed, i would have to say Bucks bread and butter model prices have not kept up inflation. Still some of the best deals out there.

Buck made 1 million 110s in 2010, how many did they make in 2019? I think it's much more.
Did they really?
I recall reading in one of the forum posts around 2014 or 2015, that Buck had produced 15 million 110 folding hunters (all variations) since it was introduced in 1964. (Or maybe it was in an ad?)

If they're making a million plus a year now, must be getting close to, or over 22 million production total. :D

I doubt the production total will ever reach an average of 1 million (combined total of each variation) for each year of production. Be cool if it did. :D

We are not making a million 110s a year. Alot, but not that much :)

I just paid 50 for a clip point 110 with ebony and S30V (gave a 110 away, used it as a good excuse to pick up another. Might as well make it S30V ). I believe that is just outstanding value/price.:thumbsup:

I paid $20 in 1975 for my first Buck folder.

In today's dollars, I would pay $102 for that knife!!

Gas prices today are pretty much the same as I was paying in 1975. 68 cents per gallon then and $3.46 now. (gas is actually 46 cents cheaper now!!)

I've heard you should spend a full days wages for a good knife. That probably came from the same person that said you should pay two months salary for an engagement ring. So I guess if your married, buy as many knives as you can before she finds out :)

Speaking of diamonds, I heard a diamond dealer ad on the radio that was trying to tell me an anniversary ring should be twice as large as the engagement ring, because "I love you twice as much"
By that logic I now get to buy twice as many knives... hurray!!!

I spent $80 at the pump, and still didn't fill the truck.

.....It's going on everywhere.
I think Buck is doing just fine, tho I have noticed they have dropped a few items this year, probably trying to keep up.

What's outta' line is what folks think things are worth on the secondary markets.
There's too many people trying to make money NOT working.
