Here's a Kimber Gold Match II [.45 ACP], and a Dan Wesson Razorback [10mm].

My fullsize Colt Gunsite pistol in stainless is one of my favorites, but a recently aquired sig compact classic is quickly working its way up my list... All stainless with a commander slide on the officer frame is a dream to carry.

Now if someone else is buying, I'll take a nighthawk T3 in stainless thank you...

I have zero interest in 1911's personally..... I'll stick with my tactical tupperware:p

IMO it is one of the most overrated platform's available today. While it was groundbreaking design 100 yrs. ago, they are a pretty bad value in todays market.

I have handled a few different brands but only ever shot Kimbers and a TRP. My Kimbers were smoother then the TRP that I shot but they both had equally good fit and finish. I have 3,200 rounds through my two Kimbers so far without a single failure. You can't ask for much more, especially when you can get the base model for around $750

I have an Ed Brown Special Forces. Beautiful gun, but I honestly can't speak to the others. Wanted a 1911, did my homework, and the Brown was at or near the top. Haven't looked back.

springfield. at some point I'm fixing to have a couple of customs done up, but I have to figure out a way to convince my wife that's a good idea first.

70 model colt gold cup nation match with with customized solid bushing and trigger work, not to mention I took second place excellence in competition at all army in 1980 with an issue grade 45 with no modifications.

My own personal experience with 1911's wasn't until after I'd been exposed to shooting revolvers for about 15 years. My opinion is the Kimber I have has out shot any Springfield I own or have shot. Both Springfields I have owned I have had to have work done on them, one of which I had to send back to Springfield for warranty work where the foot of the barrel wasn't cut square. This caused the gun to shoot about 4 inches left of point of aim with every shot, it grouped decently but just always four inches to the left of whatever the hell you aimed at. The Colt's I have shot have been 70 series, all of them were fine shooters with great fit from the factory. The Rock Island Armory's are actually a big surprise if you want a cheap 1911. The one Para I've got to shoot I enjoyed how it felt even though it was one with a double stack frame. But the one 1911 everyone should stay away from is the Llama, I still see those floating around from time to time.
Hopefully one day I will have an Ed Brown and STI to add in to the mix. But I don't think I will ever own a Wilson just from handling one and knowing some of their company history.

I've got an old Colt Officer's from the late 80's. Not as pretty as salvo's though. ;)

I have very little experience with the different 1911 model brands except for the Kimber Target Eclipse II I've had for over ten years. So I'm not sure I'm qualified to state a preference. I have been very happy with the Kimber. Mike

I've owned several brands and voted for DW in this poll.

You can pay much more but you won't get a lot more.

2nd for me would be Colt. When I was younger and didn't know better I made the mistake of buying SA and mimbers.

I own a stainless Springfield Mil-spec and have no complaints. Love the gun, very accurate and feeds whatever she's fed. Though I have my eye on a S&W or other mid range 1911. ( around 1000, i need to save some money for future Busse's too!) What makes me happy is that although everyone has their preferences here, there are a lot of guys that love 1911s, in my opinion THE best handgun ever made. It's amazing that a gun designed over a century ago has such a following today when a computer bought one year is obsolete the next.

I love the 1911. The Springfield I started with is very classic (except the stainless aspect) I wanted a gun with history and one which uses such an effective round. It feels tighter than the Korean War era ones I used to qualify with in the Guard, but I really enjoy the pointability of the gun, the design and the awesome single stack feel of the hand guard. Kudos to all of you that have posted. Though some are pricier than others we all share a love for the greatest pistol ever shot.

I have a Springfield TRP, two Sig Scorpions, and two Dan Wessnons, a V-bob and a Specialist, both with the black duty carry.........the Dan Wessons are easily the best out of the bunch....no MIM parts....custom quality with out the huge inflated price.......best value in the 1911 market.
