In 1911's I own two Colt .45's, one SIG .45, three Dan Wesson .45's (a CCO, a Heritage, and a Valor), and one long slide 10mm Nighthawk.

As a result of this, I have drawn some personal, firm ideas on 1911's:

- I will never pay good money for another Colt.

- SIG makes a very good 1911 at their price point, and I have found their customer service to be outstanding.

- Dan Wessons are the finest production 1911's for their price point that I have encountered. You really have to field strip one to realize the quality.

- The 10mm Nighthawk is simply superb, the most accurate handgun I have fired in 40 years of gun nuttery. It ought to be, given it's price. If I could keep only one, it would be the Nighthawk, no contest. Given my size, I have seriously considered trying it as my daily concealed carry in spite of the 6" barrel.

In spite of my love for the Nighthawk, I voted for Dan Wesson, because mine are in the caliber normally associated with 1911's and because all three have been faultless after the first 100 rounds. The Heritage and the Valor needed a little (very little) breaking in, the CCO has been perfect from round one.

Waiting to pick up my Taurus 1911 in stainless steel.. Used to have Springfield barebones but had to give it up a couple years ago, now just gotta finish paying this one off...

Kimber Elite Carry (the first custom run EVER out of Kimber's shop) bought new off the shelf at Shema's Outdoor Sports in Merrillville, Indiana.

It was stolen here in Nacogdoches 2-3 years ago. I miss it greatly and doubt I'll even see it again.

Mine started out life as off the shelf Springfield. I guess you could say it is a Wison Combat powered Springfield. Almost every part in the Trigger group has been replaced with Wilson gunsmith fit parts. Added an arched mainspring housing with magwell. Cut 30lpi checkering on the frontstrap. peen'd the frame rails and laped in the slide. drilled the front sight (factory) and added White dot. Stripped the frame and slide, polished the flats, bead blasted the top and deep blued. Pin covered rosewood grips finish it off.

I have owned several Colt's over the years but now I only have the one 70 series..........Although apart from the frame and slide there is not a lot of Colt in it! LOL:)

Had a Gunsite that was sent off to the custom shop. Great 1911, never had any issues FTF or FTE and accurate as anything. For the money the ruger 1911 is excellent, but obviously anything with Kimber, Nighthawk is fantastic. I'm to cheap to go for one of them.

That's an easy one: the Colt 1911A my Great Uncle carried in WWII. It's a family heirloom, and I'm pleased to say that it's a user, not a showpiece. I even have some period ammo that came with it. I really need to get shotgun for home protection b/c I would hate for this particular Colt to disappear into the evidentiary system.

I love my 1st year series 70 I got 38 years ago in a swap with Dad for a Model 19. (heh, got the 19 back by winning a bet to cut my beard off)

Recently got a KImber, but not sure if it has problems or ammo did (Blazer Brass...FTF. Not to hijack...).

Nighthawk GRP Recon and I love it. If you don't get why people love the 1911, too bad for you. It such a beautiful pistol with the absolute best ergonomics. Just because it's an old design doesn't mean it's outdated.

I own multiple Colts and Springfields but prefer my tricked out Para Ordinance P-13 as I like having the extra rounds and it fits my large hands perfectly.

I currently own a Wilson and a springfield TRP stainless and I actually carry the trp more than the Wilson. I use to own a Ed Brown and regret letting it go. Best pistol I ever owned.

I've never found another that could shoot with my Baers, and I have tried most of them at one time or another. IMHO, Baer is the best.

that says it all. Tupperware doesn't even come close in ergonomics and honestly, out of the box accuracy is better in todays 1911 than in tupperware.
