My favorite 1911, that I own, is a Colt Combat Elite that has been customised and rebuilt twice, from years of IPSC and IDPA. I am currently fixing up a Stainless Steel Govt that was left to me by my father. But the 45 that I carry and or have with me every day is a H&K 45C. And the bedside 45 is a H&K 45 with light attached. Here they are with my two favorite Busse 45s.

Springfield Professional.

It's the FBI model out of their custom shop.

It doesn't get any better.

Here's a photo of my rail model.......

Colt 1911 .38 super. It was my fathers service pistol when he was stationed In Germany. He left it to me when he passed, wouldn't trade it for the world!

My only 1911 is a Les Baer I purchased last year. It is a Thunder Ranch Pistol minus the forward cocking serration with a Harrison rear sight and a brass bead sight up front. Even after 2000 round it is really quite tight. My next is going to be an Ed Brown. A good friend of mine has an Executive Target and shoots better than both of us. I have also fired a Springfield TRP. Superior gun for the $$. Really enjoy the 1911 platform. I certainly seem to shoot better with my present setup over my Glock and my Sigs.

I own or have owned quite a few...competed in IDPA with several....and hands down LES BAER is the king....STI comes in second...but not even close

I am still to new (stupid rule) to post photos it seems, but my Daily Carry is my S&W 1911sc E Series. The 2 tone variant. Bobbed, perfect weight balance, superior trigger.

I have a NightHawk, but I admit its a safe queen.

Fullsize Kimber custom, filled with a bunch of Wilson Combat goodies and a Ed brown beaver tail memory grip safety, and Novak night sights. And of course a hand full of WC magazines......

Have owned at one time or another most of the listed makers. Out of all of them I really fell in love with the Les Baers.

The great thing about the 1911 market is that there are quality guns being made right now in many different price points making an american classic available to everyone. All of the makers on the list do a great job and I would be confident with any of them.

Couple of my favourites ....

Traditional would be Nighthawk's 10mm Longslide -

New age would be Mark Morris SST1 in 10mm -

I voted S&W because that's what I carry, if I had what I wanted it would be an Ed Brown. I have plans on building an long slide 460 Roland at some point, with the slide and frame from Caspian.

ive got two springfield armory 1911's a champion and the "Loaded" 1911 i love them both but the shorted champion outshoots my full size loaded?? odd but i dont mind. the champion is my carry gun any way :)

I have a Springfield Armory mil-spec exactly like the one I carried in the Service.

started out with an old army issue Remington Rand, moved to Colt MK IVs and a gold cup..had a Springfield TRP for a week and got rid of it.. had some serious issues: then tried Sig Revolution.. not a bad piece.. but now I have a Kimber desert warrior, custom covert II, a stainless Raptor II and a custom tactical II.. love my Kimbers.. they always hit where I want them.. No 1911 with out a beaver tail grip safety.

The Kimber my wife bought me back in 1998. I`ve owned lots of .45`s over the years, this one has never given my any problems, or jammed.

I'm not voting since I've only fired 2, but here's my 2cents:

ALWAYS wanted a 1911. Fired a friends Colt and was so disappointed - didn't like the grip, the trigger, or the feel - and couldn't stay in the black. I couldn't believe it.
A year later, shot a (different) friends Kimber - and loved it as much as I thought I would! Hit better with his XD, though, so I bought the tupperware 45 for myself.
When I finally get a 1911, I was going to look at Sig and Springfield. Now, since it'll be more a "treat" than anything, I'll see if I can try Wesson, Baer, and possibly Brown. And definitely another Kimber.
Thanks for doing this - it helped me narrow my selection.
