Every knife nut should own at least one of the following.
1)A Case slip joint. Doesn't matter which one but a good slippie from Case for sure.
2)A Buck 110 folder
3) One Emerson CQC7 A or B either one I guess. BenchMade's model will work also, but one CQC7 is a must for any real knife knut IMO! Its a legendary folder really for how it kind of started it all in tactical folders setting a new standard in the industry.
4)Kabar Fighting Knife. This is a legend in it's own time also and perhaps one of the best all around users still made. Everyone should have one.
5)A true Bowie of some kind from some manufacturer or maker. Every knut needs to have a Bowie in his collection.
STR- Excellant list. I thought about putting a CQC 7 on mine too because as you mentioned, that is the knife which popularized the tactical "G10/linerlock" boom. Also, I think I want to take the Marble knife off my list and add the Kabar Fighting knife..
I'm speaking only for utility, not collectibility. I've given a similar knife as well for people with a brand preference. In no order...
1. Victorinox Farmer or Leatherman Wave. Great all-around knives.
2. Spyderco Endura or Delica. Great EDC.
3. Kabar USMC issue or Becker BK7. Nice "fighters".
4. RAT 7 or Ontario SP8. Ideal outdoor blades.
5. Boker Subcom or Spyderco Dragonfly. Nice smalll knives.
1. Case Stockman, Moose or Trapper in CV of course.
2. Buck 110
3. Fully SE Spyderco Delica,Endura,or Police
4. Large fixed blade RC-6, BK-7, USMC Ka-Bar etc
5. Small fixed blade RC-3, Izula, BK-11 etc
This covers all the cutting scenarios I can think of.
EDC- Dozier Arkansas Traveler
General Hunting Knife- Dozier Pro Skinner
Survival Knife-Dozier Wilderness or Pro Guide
Bird and Trout- Dozier Whittler
Folder- Kershaw- Tanto Blur
Somewhere in there should be the Dozier Reverse Tanto
Guys, I swear I am not partial to Dozier;-)
I also have to say, I have in the past year become much more dependent on fixed blade knives. I still carry a folder some days, but every day I have a horizontal carry on my belt.
