It's true that my car eats gas but I'm only a conservationist when it comes to other people.

I had a '03 WRX sedan. Fun car, but not as fun as the 911 (have had that since '99). The 911 sucks in the desert summer, though--the A/C has been compared to an asthmatic hamster blowing over a snowcone--so the WRX made a decent commuter vehicle. I traded the WRX edan on a '04 WRX wagon when my wife and I started talking about having kids. The wagon kinda sucked compared to the sedan. Then I realized I didn't need two fun cars that guzzled gas, and traded that on a VW Jetta TDI. Now I get 41 mpg on the commute and when I want to be a pisser I drive the 911 in to work (19 mpg).
