Good Lord.... Jeff is a FRIEND of mine, that is not too hard to discover online and YES I probably call him a numpty at lest once a week..... the brand knife I recommend all over the shop other than a Busse/Kin is always ESEE.

All I can say Dude is perhaps pontificate less.

So you expect me to search online to discover you are friends with Jeff based on your sarcasm (which doesn't come across on the internet) by a few random emoji's? I apologize for being so direct with you... :)

All I can say is that you've been around here long enough to know how to 'ignore' members and if I'm such an annoyance than it's merely a click away and will not hurt my feelings in the least. The Dude abides... :)

Well mate, you spent a good bit of time looking at ESEE (and yes I own more than my fair share of Numpty’s knives) it may have presented to you, no matter. You don’t like choils, you don’t have to, I do and that too is OK. You will note in my exchange with AntDog I made the point that we all have different tastes which is OK !!!! That you would think I consider Jeff stupid because he has a range of blade sans choil says more about your myopic view than my own.

I didn't come to any conclusion about why you would use that language about Jeff and I wanted to know why. You didn't answer directly and left me wondering why that may be, now I don't jump to conclusions but it could have been taken that way quite easily and get the wrong idea based on what we were discussing in the original thread.

See, this is why we all have different tastes ;) 80% of my knife use is on game and/or meaty treats and the rest I still like a choil :D :D ;) Even a little bitty one :D

Stay safe mate :) .
Agreed. You stay safe as well, my friend. Keep having fun out there down under. I love seeing all the pics of your adventures.🤝

The ratweiler handle. It just has been great for chopping from a rearward position and plenty comfy in the forward position to be a greatly versatile knife. I consider it a modern Hudson Bay knife in terms of function. Same with the chopweiler, I just don't have one of those yet.

The EU handle is tops for me. It’s like the OG ratweiler handle but trimmer. I would have liked to see the slabs a little less blocky though.

Oh, and the choil on the Dog Soldier series is fantastic. I like choils on my larger blades as long as it doesn’t create a huge ricasso.

The ricasso a choil requires is the reason I prefer little or no choil on my small blades. The compact choil found on the 1st Gen Howling Rat was a fantastic compromise and is why that knife is still my hands down favorite.

Yes. Please. For the love of God, small knives don’t need a whomping huge finger choil. It is taking away a good 1” of the most usable part of the blade. That section comes in really handy for cutting things with power and control right near the handle.

The choil getting hung up on stuff I’m cutting is my single biggest pet peeve about Busse knives. I want to be able to poke it in something all the way to the handle and slice. I hate having to eyeball every cut to make sure the edge stays in what I’m cutting.

I have sworn off of buying any more Busse or kin with a blade length of 5” or less that has a choil. Finger, elf, sharpening or otherwise. Want my business, give me back the whole edge of my knife.
I will second this - no choil! Also, please give us thinner blades in the smaller knives (4"-7").

Res-C is awesome - AD6 and 711 "traditional" style
6 or 7 inch blade with drop point or clip point
for tough steel, 1/8" or slightly thicker and no choil.
SR101 is fine but Magnacut would be nice in order to try a SS.

Agreed, the Dog Soldiers have the best choil, if there is such a thing. Also, a huge ricasso ruins a beautiful knife.
