what are the best cheap knives

I dug my Kershaw OD-2 out of my collection and have been taking it everwhere lately. It's small and fits in the watch pocket of your jeans and you don't know it's there. Lightweight, and hides nice in work slacks, too. I got mine for $20.00 at a gun show awhile back - but there are other places you might find them for less. Looks like everyone here has their favorite . . . you should handle some if possible and decide what's best for what you want to use it for.

PS - I second the motion on Rough Riders. I have 6 or 7 and they are good quality for the price.

+1 Mora - you need to spend a hell of a lot more $$$ before you start getting a hell of a lot more knife.
+1 Opinel - same reasons as Mora.

i think there are some Buck, Kershaw and Spyderco knives available for under $30 too.

Thanks, those are all good suggestions

What do you want the knife for? EDC? Camping? Hunting/Skinning? Yard work? Office work?
Fixed or Folder?

I've bought knives from Byrd, Kershaw, Boker, Spyderco, Victorinox, Opinel, Mora, Case, for <$30 and found them all to offer great values. Just depends on what you need/want/like in a knife.
I actually wanted a fixed blade to beat for fun but I'll prob get a Kershaw Chill or some Sanrenmu knives; If I could figure out where to buy them.

What knife is that stabbed into the concrete in your avatar?
This one

The cold steel finn bear, roach belly and canadian belt knife are pretty good in the $15 range. As well as moras if you like scandis. For slip joints I like the hallmark cutlery line of chief and kissing crane. Rough riders are said to be decent for the $.

I really like the Svord Peasant for the price. $13 at Amazon. It is a good knife. :)

Specifications
* Blade Length: 3"
* Overall Length: 8-1/4"
* Blade Material: Hardened and tempered high carbon tool steel blade
* Handle Material: Orange polypropylene handles

Another vote for the Boker - Krein pocket bowie. Once you get past any minor imperfections it is a lovely little fixed blade. I love mine !
