What are the first things you think of others that don't carry a knife?

A true man always carries a tool with him. If I see a man without a knife or multitool of some sort regardless of the quality I presume there is something wrong with him

I tend to presume there is something wrong with people who measure manhood by accessories rather than character.

I really don't care what others caryy or not.
Should anyone need a knife when I'm around, I'll be sure to let them borrow mine.
If I'm not around, I guess they are gonna have to use their keys on that taped cardboard box or whatever..

As to characterizing them one way or the other, I'll leave that to my 10 year old son.

The only actual thing I think of them is they can't borrow mine when they want to cut something or turn a screw with the tip or some other way to mess it up.

As I go about the care of my property, my light, one-hand-open blade in my pocket is constantly in use. The knife would impress few on this forum - but it is ever ready and highly effective.

When I help out others in their light property maintenance, I have the job at hand done before they can go and get the pruners or cutting tool that is in the shed.

Yes, it surprises people that I carry a knife ... but a task done quickly is simply pleasing to all. A job needed doing and is done. No better test than that.

Lots of times I tap into mechanical skills or computer skills that I don't have but are held by others. Tools and knowledge of their uses are held by many on this forum.

Many who have regular use for a tool such as a knife will have one handy, otherwise, why judge?

I would not carry 'MS - Access for Dummies' on my person (but should ).

My only thought is how do you live from a day to day basis without some sort of cutting tool in your pocket, I once worked with a guy that says I have one in my car and I said its not doing you much good there is it? :)

I take comfort in the fact that 95% of the population living in my suburban area does not have possession of the same tools as I. I do not judge them for living their lives the way they want as is everybody's right by god. Do we get singled out for being "that knife guy" sometimes? yes. Does it matter in any way shape or form? no. What is important for some is just not as important to others.

My personal interpretation of Luke 22:36 is Jesus' teachings of EDC ;) I always carry my wallet, survival bag, and sword (knife / knives). That is _my_ belief. Let others choose to live the way they want in accordance to their own.

The first thing I think is that you most likely can't rely on them in a real life situation because they probably don't own other tools if they don't carry a cutting tool.

Or it could mean that they are a sheep type of person that is not aware of their rights.

And then the funny thing is that they always have a smart phone attached to them, but they don't have a knife.

Then I think I just don't have much in common with them, unless they have some type of knowledge of knives and other related things, because I know a few people that don't always carry a knife but they at least know some amount of knowledge pertaining to knives/outdoor/guns etc.

Using an inanimate object as a measure of being sociable is very strange in and of itself. Personally, I don't use that method, instead I rely on conversation. Not everyone has grown up around guns and knives, does that make people any stranger than those that have? Seems like your perspective may be a little misguided and ultimately misplaced. Almost bordering on nutnfancy-ish. I have a couple of smart phones as they are a requirement of both my jobs. So, how does that define me, I must be an enigma then?
I'm sure a lot of people are aware of their rights, but they might not have an immediate burdening need for a knife and gun at every moment of their life. Assuming anything else is just foolishness.

It's just a matter of being prepared. Being prepared tells a lot about your character and who you are.

See this is a good example.

A fair amount of arrogance and stereotyping on display. Interesting, since that is the usual characterization of those who are ostensibly "anti-knife."

Knives are useful tools. Carrying one does not make anyone a sheepdog, a shepherd, or whatever. It never fails to amaze me how people are unable to see their own dogmatic conformity.

Personally, I try not to judge others at all. Since I am neither divine nor a self-anointed shepherd, I will always fall short of any absolute. While I may disagree with other people’s opinions or actions, it does not automatically mean that they are wrong or misguided. And while we, as a society, are sometimes called upon to judge the actions of others, it does not mean that we are required to judge the person.

Of course we constantly decide with whom to associate on a personal level. Therefore, I consider integrity, trustworthiness, and character to be far more important than political and social ideology.

Additionally, for anyone who thinks that I am judging you by my comments, I am not. There is nothing hypocritical about expressing my opinion or judgment regarding any post or comment.

See ya'll in the funny papers!

It's just a matter of being prepared. Being prepared tells a lot about your character and who you are.
Perhaps those here judging so harshly ought tell all how prepared they with emergency funds in how months of pay they've set aside for nothing but unseen emergencies. That's a more relevant measure of preparedness than a pocket knife.

Oh, look. Another "let's bash people who aren't into what we're into" thread. Quick everyone, drinking game time! Every time someone says "sheep" or "sheeple", TAKE A SHOT! WOOO!!!!

What I worry about are those with an irrational fear of weapons, as Jeff Cooper has written about.
When a person animates an inanimate object in their mind, I call into question their ability to make good decisions in other areas of their lives.
I tolerate these types and have to be around a few of them because of my job.
What disturbs me also is when I have this conversation with women who are mothers. Some cannot fathom stabbing a person in the face for example. This conversation comes up when they ask me to explain all stuff I carry w/ me at work.
I explain what each item is and it's use. When they see my knife they can't seem to see why it's needed. When I say to cut things or a person, they just can't get their heads around it ! The Glock 23 is acceptable in their mind, but the knife....oh my!!! I ask if they would stab a person trying to kill or kidnap their child....they hesitate and sometimes begin to understand. The momma bear is in there, but they had not ever thought it out in that manner.

That you find this to be an issue says a lot more about you than it says about "some".

People who do not carry knives are a mentally stunted, emasculated race. They deserve their fate when they face life's grievous threats without a knife. A knifeless man is a lifeless man, so, adios from the gene pool, losers! Furthermore, you're either a wolf, sheep or a sheepdog. Wolves and sheepdogs carry knives, and sheep carry smart phones and latte's. And then there are shepherds, who carry bigger knives, and a big crooked stick. Yup, it's good to be the shepherd. I wouldn't be friends with someone who doesn't carry a knife, because, that would be like the shepherd hanging out with the sheep. Then, who would watch over the flock? The wolves would get us all, and that would be messed up. In conclusion, the knife gives me great power, and with great power comes great responsibility, and I look down upon the fleeced masses.

Props for your awesome sarcasm!

I generally don't pay attention, but it does get me when someone is surprised that I do carry a knife. I was at a cub scout retreat last summer and pulled out my folder to open some boxes and all of the mothers gasp, I'm like this is cub scouts, pretty soon all of your little angels will have their own BSA knife to carry.
