What are the LEAST FAVORITE Knives You Own?

Well my least favorite all around super suck knife has been the m9 bayonette. It smacks of committee design and is retarded. I don't think any units even bother issuing it anymore but if they do I feel bad for the guys that have to carry it.

It's been funny reading all of the least favorite knives because most of them, especially the gerber paraframe, the crkt m16, and a few of the cold steels like that stupid boot dagger are the ones you predominately see at the AAFES px's. Why is the thumb stud on the m16 series checkered? With all of the great knives designed specifically for military guys you wouldn't think there'd be a market for crap knives but I guess your average joe doesn't know any better.

The worst knife I've ever seen was one of those gerber paraframes. The thing simply would not sharpen. It was like trying to sharpen wood. Inexplicably gerber has a pretty good reputation at least around ft Bragg. What are really popular are those multitools where the pliers slide back and forth in the handle. I still fail to see the advantage of that design and I've seen them break and get jammed up with dirt too. Ive seen even one of Gerber's expensive autos break after a couple weeks of normal use. The safety switch jammed and then broke off!

CRKT Hawk K-AT. I don't really care for the looks of it and have absolutely no use for such a small fixed blade.

A most interesting thread; I wouldn't buy a Buck if I had room for a freight car load of 'em up my A$$. I've had 110s that would shut on my fingers and wouldn't hold an edge. I've carried a CRKT Navajo for over 5 years with no complaint. Yeah, one of the screws tried to come out, that's when you take them all out and locktite them back in. If change gets stuck between the blade and liner, how hard is it to carry your coins in the other pocket? The only thing in the pocket with your knife should be something of similar size, such as a Fenix flashlight and maybe fingernail clippers. The coins, keys and maybe moneyclip go in the other pocket to preclude flashing a knife when digging for exact change at MickyD's. All it takes is a little forethought. And while I'm at it, how many of you can go in your wallet right now and pull out your Social Security card? Go lock it up, unless you're going to a job interview there is no need to have it on your person.

My least favorite is probably an Ontario Spec-Plus tanto. I don't know that there's actually anything wrong with the knife, but for the life of me I don't know why I bought a 6" tanto blade. It's never left the house with me---maybe I should take it out to the garage and make it my official box/rope cutting knife? At least that way it will get some use.

CRKT M16... and KISS... kiss is in the trash after the lock failed while cutting braided para cord and the CRKT is in my little brothers dresser because he doesn't carry it anymore. (I passed it on to him free of charge

Nameless stainless steel, straight edge folding knife from Sheffield UK (once the World centre of cutlery manufacturing). Now lost, fortunately.

I just joined, this is the first post I've looked at, and I immediately noticed the preponderance of the CRKT M16. I happen to have an M16 in my pocket. Admittedly, it's only the second knife I've owned, the other being the inferior stainless steel knife bought in Sheffield. The latter was made like a suit of armour: indestructible, but unsophisticated. Anyway, the M16 has been a revelation - had it for 5yrs, has inspired me to get a larger 'survival knife' for the backcountry. The double locking mechanism as absolutely safe, the edge holds an edge reasonably well, screws have held tight. The M16-03Z is a great size for the pocket. Yesterday I accidentally left the M16 at home, and really missed it. A true wonder of usefulness, the knife.

The CRKT M16 is probably an unusually popular knife, and I don't think its preponderance on this thread reflects its quality/usefulness/value, but rather is ubiquity.

Ka-Bar Impact Tanto. Bought when I was sure Tanto was still a good general-purpose cutting blade shape. The knife is purpose-built for combat, not the woods knife I thought I was buying. Completely my mistake!

The Gerber Game Pro and Trendy I have, NIB. Too cheap to get rid of, will probably end up as gifts. Junk I bought before I knew better. Actually the Game Pro is almost depressing to hold, because the frame lock is beefy and it feels solid overall, but the blade steel is such garbage it's not worth using as a tackle box / tool box knife.

Gerber SL 3.25 PS Carbon Fiber that I defended as a "good knife" the first few weeks I was on the board. Sold off the PE one I had. The liner lock is paper thin, and though solid I don't trust it to hold the relatively long blade open.

BRKT Mikro Slither, in Carbon Fiber. Love the handle material, liked the knife, but too small to EDC on a belt, too small to carry alone, and it's illegal to carry even that tiny little knife "concealed" in CA. Sold recently.

gerber paraframe, kershaw tanto blur, the tip on this knife is way to thin im afraid to poke any thing harder than styrafoam.and almost any knife ive ever bought from the fleamarket.:grumpy:

Sounds like you dont like Wal-Marts selection.....;)....
You will find something nice on here, guaranteed..
Matt

yes walmarts selection is not the best but it is one of the only places that i can actually see a knife in person before i buy it.

My least favorite is probably my SOG Trident Tanto (folder). It just feels flimsy, and the handle feels all wrong.

I got a BM LFK in the mail today purely for giggles. I'm not too sure how I feel about this one. The whole blade > handle thing is kinda neat, but the linerlock is worrying me a bit, and it's not terribly sharp out of the box like my Endura was. I'll have to get back to you on this one...

WOW, CRKT has been getting a ton of hate in this thread, lol. As someone else mentioned, I think this might simply be because of pure volume and not craftsmanship.

I hate to fan the flames but.....my 2 least favourite knives are both of my CRKTs :D

My M16-10Z fills me with regret. This was the first "good" knife that I bought, this is the one that started me collecting. Unfortunately I was a bit naive at the time, so I went with the tanto tip and partially serrated blade. Once I discovered that slightly loosening the pivot allows me to flick out the blade with the flipper I truly started to LOVE this knife. But that filled me with more regret, as I wished I had gotten a plain edge and a spear point. The left handed chisel grind is moronic and makes the knife almost useless, but strangely enough, I have no problems with the liner lock and I think that Auto-LAWKS is a great system and I don't understand why so many people hate it.

At the time I thought that partially-serrated would be the best of both. Plain edge is there, serrations available if I need them. Turns out I'm not really a fan of serrations, and the tanto tip has been anything but helpful. Add in the fact that this is the only one of my knives that I've cut myself with, and we have a real love-hate relationship. I also paid WAY too much for it because I bought it at the local knife store instead of online. Oh well, lesson learned.

My 2nd least favourite is my CRKT Koji Hara Ichi. I thought the assisted opening was SO cool. I BIG part of my knife decisions are asthetics. I'm a relatively light user, I use my knives to open packages and sharpen pencils, etc. I don't work in a factory cutting cardboard all day. So I buy knives that can do what I need while still looking cool/being a conversation item. The Ichi is....just a knife. There's nothing special about it at all.

It's the only one of my knives that I NEVER carry. I always choose something else over this little guy, maybe I should just put it in my car or something as a backup/last resort.

AFCK (BM806d2) combo edge. It just stares at me and says "you hate combo edges. You could have got me in a plain edge. But you didn't. And now they don't make me anymore. You suck."

I actually like CRKT and, gasp, Gerber Ripstops and Paraframes.
Probably one of various POS chinese/pakistanese knives, otherwise, my Boker Large Stockman. Don't know why, just don't like that knife.
