What are the LEAST FAVORITE Knives You Own?

The least favorite knife I've owned are Swiss Army knives. They tend to lose bits and pieces over time, the accessories bend, flop around and eventually the main knife will unlock and cut me. At some point I walked into a Salvation Army store purchased 10 of them at 10 cents each, you might expect I still have one of em at hand but they all seem to have lost themselves. If it won't lock I'm not going to carry it.

Sitting in front of me are 2 knives that have been usefull for over 20 years, Schrade 152 Old Timer [fixed knife] and an Ontario-Knife Company 'tru edge' "Old Hickory"

I bet those 'Swiss Army Knives' aren't made in switzerland. :);)

My least favorite is my Becker BK10 Crewman.

Don't get me wrong - it is an excellent knife - It's just that I rarely ever use it. It has proven to be too heavy and bulky for me to want to carry, and being built like a tank, it is overkill for my modest uses. The military look doesn't suit me aesthetically either.

Any knife that cost more than a good handgun I hate.
Occassionally I see gorgeous knives with polished or Damascus blades and beautiful transluscent handles, and they're breathtaking. But quality production folders just do nothing for me.

Last night I pulled my Ruger stainless .22LR/Mag Single-Six out of the safe. As I looked at it and cycled the action, I wondered whether any plain production knife could ever come close, in quality or beauty to a fine revolver, blued or stainless. I just don't think so, either. But people are free to disagree.

For the purpose of this thread, though, have you actually owned a knife that was expensive as a gun? Or have you ever used or handled one?

CRKT M16 again. Bought it for the blade shape but couldn't get past the silly lock and the ventilated handles that filled up with anything in my pockets. This is the only knife I have ever gotten a quarter lodged between the blade and handle.

I have a love-hate with Gerber Paraframe 2s. I bought my 1st one a Wal-fart, on sale for 9.97. It was 9.97, how bad could it be? I have a million or so knives I never use, why not another? The problem was, I liked it....It fits my hand well, and with a little tweaking opens as fast as an auto. The problem with it is: It's a piece of crap!
I love the replies on this thread. At the same time, some of them can be quite frustrating. Regarding the Paraframe, for example, why would someone keep it and continue to carry it when it doesn't keep an edge and is junk?

Also, there have been a lot of additions lately about the CRKT M16. When you guys list a knife that you hate, please tell us why you hate it and what your initial expectations were.

I started off buying cheap locking folders in dollar stores, but though I keep them for sentimental value, I can't hate them because they never pretended to be anything but cheap, crappy knives. The knives I hate are the ones that I buy in good faith and turn out to be junk. I'm getting kind of down on M16 CRKTs lately, so I'd like to know why you other guys hate 'em.

I know I am going to get a lot of flack for this one but mine has to be my EMERSEON MINI COMMANDER. I bought it because my buddy had the full size commander. I loved the wave on the knive but the size was just to big for me. So I went out and got the mini. Blade is to small and the placement of the wave on the top of the blade makes it so that the blade will not open all the way when pulling it out of your pocket. Don't get me wrong about EMERSON KNIVES, I have three others and love them. Just don't care to much for the mini.

i know, i liked my triple action until i started nicking the edge, which aluminum shouldn't be capable of doing. you ARE supposed to use two hands though, my fault. the handle was just... i don't know, not sturdy enough, not like i had problems i just feared them. sharp though, i like the VG-1 its my favorite

Some of the early CRKT knives I owned are now seen as pieces of junk in my mind. The grind is far too shallow leading to a horendously thick edge.

hey guys, i looked up the cricket M16 you all hate so much, and it looks nice, says it has good blade steel, the only reviews i saw were a 4 and 5 star rating. wh yahppened in your experiences?

Thick edge, iffy linerlock, value issues, and above all the fact for only 10 more dollars I can get a Spyderco Delica.

I like all my knives, but if I had to pick a least favorite,it would be my rainbow leek.I got it cause it looked nice. It's not a very practical knife though.

Gerber Paraframe Lite. Bought it for camping/boating since it looked really light and was cheap enough to not worry about loosing. I've had it camping and found it only slightly better than being without a knife altogether. Can't open or close it with 1 hand. The thumb stud and carry clip put a death grip on my pocket and pull it inside out when I try to take it out to use it. And the blade shape is not very useful.

Of my actual knives....a Fury linerlock. And that's not because of any defects, its because its chisel ground I don't want to fix it or sharpen it. I actually like my Paraframe...yes butter holds a better edge but I also have no problem beating on it. Very comfortable. I would like to have it remade with better steel.

Gerber "CRKT M16" knock off.. forgot what they call it.. Never owned a Maxam but held one at a dollar store and it made me throw up a little in my mouth lol

mine was a cheap "humvee" brand knife. It was in a pack of three for $9 and I wouldnt have bought it but I was knifeless at the time (having lost my edc) and I felt too naked without a blade of some sort so i got it not expecting much and It was the worst knife I ever owned! The lockup was solid but the blade was crap. I spent 30 minuts with a whole bunch of arkansaw stones and couldnt put an edge sharp enough to carve some soft cedar. The serratins sucked and wouldnt cut any thing and need less to say I dumped it in the trash The minute I got my OHF. (though I did steal the clip.)

lol you do that too? That is the only thing I get out of cheapie knives.. clips, pivot's and thumb studs
