What are the LEAST FAVORITE Knives You Own?

Well, that's an interesting question. Anyone ever thrown away a knife in full working order just because it was a POS you didn't want to saddle anyone else with? If so, what was the knife and what made you toss it?

another CRKT m16

only liner lock that's ever failed on me -- didn't even need a spine whack.

CRKT Rollock, bought for novelty, fell apart in no time -couple of screws fell out and pocket lint collected inside sliding mechanism.

Second were DeltaZ liner locks that didn't hold up under use - liner locks slipped and wood on one cracked at screw hole. D.Ralph design was nice and sleek, but they had QC manufacturing issues.

Right now? Anything from Cold Steel.

LOL Everyone turned on Cold Steel like a mother-in-law. I just watched their video again. dang, it's a long video. I wouldn't mind gettin a ti-lite and I'm for sure going to get a SRK soon.

I've actually thrown several knives in the garbage can; mostly folders. Usually wrapped in several layers of duct tape, wrapped that in some old papertowels, tossed into a bag and I try to destroy the edge as best I can. (I don't want some Homeless guy finding it, and using it to mug or hurt people.... And before you post angry responses about how not all homeless folks are dangerous or mentally disturbed, please keep in mind that I agree with you. But living in NYC, I'm used to dealing with the Homeless. I know that a significant number of them ARE dangerous and in need of psychiatric help. I don't want one of them finding a knife I tossed in the garbage).

The ones that stand out MOST are a Spyderco Endura, a Large CS clip-point Voyager, and a Medium example of the same knife. All 3 were early models; with molded carry-clips! ....... You guessed it; all 3 clips got snagged on something and just snapped apart! Thankfully, all 3 models now come with spring-steel clips.

Schrade Cliphanger. I've reprofiled this one into a sheepsfoot, ripped out the "lock" and plan on putting in a moster pivot pin to hopefully make it useable.

CRKT pike's peak - I bought it as a slightly larger EDC than my spyderco Toad and less than a day later I was annoyed with the fat soft blade that didn't come sharp and wouldn't take a decent edge, the silly double thumb pins caught on everything, the safety catch slipped off and was pointless anyway, the handle was uncomfortable to use... The list goes on. I went out and bought a Spyderco Kiwi for £5 more and the difference in quality was unbelievable. Haven't thrown it away though, I use it for all those jobs you shouldn't use a knife for!

Seems like CRKT knives are listed here a lot. Check out the Ryan 7 review we just did where the lawks failed after 4 light-medium spine whacks!

I love my KFF Pro and M16. My biggest POS was a Gerber LST that wouldn't take an edge. Knives I've thrown in the garbage, I've filed off the edge and damaged it enough so it can't be used

I haven't thrown it away, but its been shipped to the bottom of a box n'er to be seen again my most people. It was a POS DDR2 kit that some POS sold me as a custom knife. I should have done more checking, but when I asked if it was a kit knife I was told it wasn't. Fugger was lying through his teeth, though, and I passed up an opportunity to get a really nice CUSTOM fixed blade to get it. It has served me a lesson, and I just can't bring myself to sell the thing because it just wouldn't be fair. I also don't want to hear the comments about charging "THAT much" for a kit knife when all I'd be trying to do is get some of my money back.

It's difficult to make a knife totally harmless, but it's a good idea to try. In fact, knife fights and assaults are very common among the homeless and many refuse to go to shelters because doing so would mean surrendering their weapons.

The molded Zytel clips was a bad idea for a number of reasons, not the least of which was that they are uncomfortable to grasp for some. The spring clips are usually too tight when they come from the factory and I've found I have to bend them a bit to carry them in the waistband. The Voyagers are otherwise good knives with a positive locking mechanism. Although I've never had a molded clip break, I can see that they might.

A few months ago, I ran across a large article written by a guy who ended up homeless for about a year. One of the things he mentioned was how he would frequently find dull kitchen cutlery and sometimes a cheap folder, in dumpsters! (Sharpening them was no problem.... the sidewalk is great for removing metal from inexpensive knives).

I stopped being a fan of Cold Steel awhile ago. But there are some of their models that I really like. The Voyagers are part of that group. When I found out about Benchmade, I never did get around to replacing any of those 3 folders I mentioned above..... Maybe I will; now that all 3 are finally available with less fragile clips.

The least favo knife at the moment I've got is the Böker Kalashnikov 74 desert colour.

Why on earth do you post this in a thread called "The least favorite knife you own"? In another thread you claim the Busse SNFO to be your best fixed blade. So your best fixed blade is the one you like the least? If so, I'll be happy to relieve you from this burden. Just send it to me. ;)

The least favorite knife I own is a CRKT Corkum 1st Strike. The edge is much too thick and impossible to sharpen properly, the handle too thin. Due to its pointy skull crusher, the knife will poke you in the rips or tear your flesh if you should ever fall while carrying it. It looks cool but really is a worthless piece of metal.

Haha excuse me, I read "least" as "the last knife you own"

I will delete it. My fault people I'm sorry :thumbdn: :o

ok, I know this was a bad idea but I was young and stupid. I had one of those hollow handle survival knives, that POS didnt even last a few hours hard chopping...plus I didnt really expect anything out of it because I got it at a pawn shop for 5 bucks

Chopping things only ruins the compass in the top!

I wonder, has anyone here not owned one of these knives at one time or another? My first knife was actually my least favorite. It was a tiny fixed knife in a tiny leather sheath with beads arranged in an American Indian decor. After that, fast forward to my Cub Scout knife, also one of my least favorites. It rusted in a year. Oh, yeah, and my wife brought me back another beaded knife with a curved blade and sheath. That I will sell to the highest bidder.

I bought a SOG Bowie online. When it was delivered, I was so disappointed within the first glance, I almost went apeshit.
