What Are You Bringing To Ct??!!

This is great, now if I can actually absorb half of the things that will be taught, i will be ahead of the game.

I am a student of the woods to be sure..I have a LONG way to go...don't worry, about being a NEWB, my buddy WES is an avid hunter, and has some books, but he is already saying that he doesnt want people to think hes an idiot...I keep telling him that everyone starts somewhere. I think that everyone will take alot away from a learning experience like this one.

I'm a newb all over again since my car accident a few years ago, Gene. It's been like starting over and relearning everything. So, we'll all make mistakes and laugh around the campfire. That's the source of the bonding at these things: the process of trial and error -- and discovery -- shared, is unforgettable and invaluable.

Thanks GUYS, I'll try not to stab myself in the foot!

Hey, then we could practice first aid...when life gives you lemons, make lemonade:D

I forgot to mention that I need COFFEE to live, without it I die..in a matter of minutes the life force that we all have inside of us, withers and leaves me...so I am bringing a coffee maker. If someone has the skills to brew it old school, then let me know...I sure dont. I am also bringing a Combat medics first aid kit, with IV's and the like..just incase.

Just try not to stab ME in the foot. ;)

And, FLIX told me on the phone that we have to have a finger count before AND after the gathering to make sure nobody leaves any behind. :D:D:D

FLIX is a smart man! Don't worry, I am usually only a threat to myself, USUALLY!

The emphasis of this gathering as we originally planned it is fire. But knife testing will be come a big part of it. I also plan on doing a plant walk studying both edible and medicinal plants and their uses. I don't know if we will be able to do a full blown navigation course. I am also limited as to how much stuff I can bring as we will be bringing the Honda Element. It has plenty of room but with me and Aggie and the two dogs it can get crowded. I can guarantee you there will be plenty of things to keep everyone busy.
We will also be bringing a 28 cup coffee maker to help get everyones heart going in the morning. I know Akabu can't even talk before he gets his coffee.

Sounds fantastic Marty, the only problem I see is that the weekend is to short. Gene

UMM, bring it on up...sounds cool. Gene

Question: I have not had a good look at the email about the yet so here. How close will the cars be to the actual camp sites? If close then I'll be more inclined to bring more stuff to play with. However if they are a distance away I will just keep to the basics.

i won't be bringing too much in terms of trades, but am looking forward to handling other people's knives and seeing how others do things.

oh i did just buy a new saw today, that will make an appearance. nothing too fancy, just a worker.

i'm getting excited guys, its coming up quick already.

LOL...I am actually hoping that some of the guys get to handle knives they have never used before..I think that that might be one of the cooler angles of so many guys going. It is a huge help in deciding what you might want to invest your hard earned money on! I know that I would never have bought a Gameswarden if I had never held one. I will bring my thin one to put through the paces...I think that it will be at the head of the pack as far as small knives go..it is a fantastic little knife and a GREAT handle IMO. Gene

EXACTLY my own reason for going, and to meet folks in person. GunKnifeNut why don't you pull your wagon on into campsite #35 as I have space for 2 cars, and can only drive one there:D Then you can horse trade from your blanket to mine:thumbup:

I'm doing likewise, if I have something in my camp that someone is interested in please ask me about it. I'll have a few styles of backpacking tents along with my Clark Jungle hammock setup too:)

Oh, and since my name is Gene too, I'll technically be going by EUgene this weekend, Gene/Gunknifenut LOL!

I am a Eugene as well..the 3rd actually, I am named after my Greatgrandfather and Father...French Canadians..by way of Normandy France in the late 17th century...Trappers and Lumberjacks, Priests and Nuns, Gamblers and Gunslingers. My Aunt (a scientist) took a year off in the early 80's to track down our family history..it was a present to my Late Grandfather...She made it up into this big poster..I sat there reading it in Awe as a young man....some of my GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT Grannies had over 25 KIDS!!! I love that history stuff. I am hijacking my own thread here....oh well.

Maybe you two should use your forum names instead. I can hear it now, someone yelling across the camp, "Hey Gunknifenut!!!" That should keep the liberals away. :D

it occured to me, should we all have "hello my name is" stickers with our forum handles and real names on them to try to avoid confusion? i for one am bad with names and won't be able to keep anyone straight...
