I didn't make it beyond a couple of episodes of the first season...but the ad that I saw for the current season made it pretty clear just what the agenda was.Just tried watching the new season of The Boys. I really enjoyed the first couple of seasons for the mindless fun entertainment but I couldn't make it through the second episode of this new season. There were hints it was going this direction last season but alas it's officially here. I realize I'm sounding like a broken record at this point lol, but let's just say you can definitely tell it's an election year because the entire "plot" is now dedicated to paper thin political shoehorning.
I was pissed that I watched as much of it as I did. I like Josh Brolin but I have no idea what that abomination was![]()
definitely not for everyone, but we watched Poor Things the night before last and it made me realize that I haven't seen a really good quality piece of cinema for quite a long time. Outstanding costume and set design, cinematography, and general cohesiveness. The kind of movie that really sticks with ya.
duped? How so?I'm surprised you enjoyed it. I was really looking forward to it but just felt duped after I watched it. Again, it was another movie that was ruined by the "constant bombardment" thatBlues mentioned.
Men bad.
Dang.....I was hoping it would be goodThe Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare- surprisingly bad
Lacked the sharpness of a Guy Ritchie movie

(Not surprised, but definitely not amused by this constant bombardment.)
Maybe you shouldn't presume what my issues were...If a show based on a comic book (especially one written over a decade ago by a military historian) about superheroes as obvious caricatures of fascism seems like an attack on current politics... the problem is probably with current politics, not the show or the comic.

OK, I'll bite, what were your issues, if not political? The previous poster you were replying to said "election year.... paper thin political shoehorning" and you replied "pretty clear just what the agenda was." There are main characters named Homelander and Stormfront. Subtle this is not. And if you're gonna reprimand me for drama in a thread that you contributed to the drama... I'm willing to leave it at this if you are.
Look, I've investigated neo-nazi, white supremacist and far right organizations, (for criminal violations, not thought crimes), as a duly sworn federal law enforcement officer. I've put the time in. I've also lost family to the Holocaust.OK, I'll bite, what were your issues, if not political? Yeah. It's ridiculous. It's like the show is on a "Howard Stern" downward spiral. And the sauna scene just came on as I was hitting the post button.
