What are your 2 favorite current production ZT flippers?

0450

I have two, one in carbon fiber, and another, which is my favorite, in titanium that has been anodized bronze.

0562CF and 0393

Best materials, fit in the hand, action and designs for the money. My other favorites are all Limited Edition, no point recommending those with limited availability and high dollar amounts.

Do you think a simplified 0999 would work for a production knife? Like in a 350-400$ range. Like the 0392/0393 (although the 0393 needs more work to make than the 0392)

Doubtful, for several reasons.

1. It would dilute the Triple number brand. The 0777 was an exception because another company was ripping off the design. But if they start making production versions of the "Halo pieces" they won't feel as special to the public at large. From a market/branding standpoint, that's a bad thing (although it won't make sense to enthusiasts at large).

2. The design isn't really practical, it's strictly a demonstration of machining/design capabilities. They would have to take away everything that made the 0999 special, to get to a version that people wouldn't be upset about for practical use.

3. There is no outcry for a production version of this knife. Along with another company continuing to produce the 0777 design years after it was stolen, everyone and their mom wanted another version of the 0777. Hence the 0770, Natrix and Bareknuckle knives came about.

The 0393 is a production version of a factory custom, this is viewed different than the limited editions (Triple Numbers) from a marketing and branding standpoint. I think we will continue to see production versions of the factory custom builds as customer feedback dictates. The 0393 was in response to a HUGE outcry for a production version of the 0392.

As always, just my opinion.

All logical points  , I am anxiously awaiting Blade Show to see what else they might have in store.

The only ZT I have is the 0450cf. Nice little knife and does fire open like a rocket. It's light and very slender, actually I find it seems a little too light. Give it a slight shake and the blade drops shut (just remember to keep all digits out of the way).

The one thing I'm concerned about is the strength of the carbon fiber in regards to the stop pin, as it is just held in place with the two scales. I read somewhere that the carbon fiber failed and the stop pin flew out cutting with fairly strong force. Granted the user may have overtaxed the knife, but still a little disconcerting to say the least. If I was to do it over, I would rather get the 0450 with the two titanium scales. Plus I'm not a huge fan of carbon fiber anyway.

For ZTs ... my favorite because it's a bit more all around type user would be ...
#1. ZT 566
#2. ZT 0909
and the 0909 would be my favorite outright but it is a larger knife so I carry the 566 a bit more often.

but close runner ups
the ZT 550
The ZT 562
the ZT 770

I choose these two.... :D.

Ok, but seriously, it would be really hard to pick because they all have a +/-. I think my two favorites right now are the 0456 and 0850. The 0456 for comfy grip and rock solid feel. The thick blade feels like it could handle anything, but still a decent slicer. The 0850 for a longer blade that carries very light. And it's fun to go back to a super smooth thumbstud action, in a sea of flippers.

That being said, the 0562CF is a real contender if I could only have one to double light/heavy duty EDC. The 0801/0801Ti is another that makes a great EDC with a super comfortable grip in hand.

I don't have any of this year's new models...... Yet.

For me the best one is the 0393. It’s more compact folded and lighter to carry than my other favorite, the 0562.

The 0562 (not the 0562cf) was my favorite ZT and all around favorite production knife until the 0393 came out.

The 0609 is an outstanding EDC knife with a great blade and impressively smooth action. I wish I could advocate for a second from personal experience, but thus far I have only one ZT. The other I find most interesting is the slightly smaller 0450CF, but I haven't seen it in person.

0566 as long as you take the assist out it feels like it's on glass and the 0562. The 0450cf looks nice and so does the new RJ Martin 0609? I think that's it

My 0801 is titanium, comfortable, well designed and very nicely made. It's also a little big.
My 0350 is heavy, loud, and freaks out onlookers. It's fun to carry and fun to use. It's in my pocket today.

I own both 0562 and 0562CF and the G-10 version was smoother than the CF version but I like carbon fiber so it gets carried the most.
If by some reason and I had to sale the collection and keep one the 0562cf would be the keeper.

The 0801 in titanium is a smooth flipper as well.

In all honesty I don't think you could go wrong with any ZT model you choose they make a great product.
