What are your dirty little knife secrets

I own a sum total of 10 knives.

three of these home-made, two of those three are rubbish.

annother is a tiny little folder little longer than my thumbnail, which I haven't even used. and is probably not too hot.

I rarely actualy use my most expensive knife (a leatherman core) and deliberatly carry another knife alongside it, as it is so slow to open.

I secretly desire an emerson, even though my head tells me that A) I have no need for tactical black blades, waved openers ect ect, and B) they are far more expensive than I could feel comfortable paying.

I think that the cold steel spike series look quite interesting.

I can't even afford a upgraded sheath for my mora frost clipper.

I don't see the appeal of the vast majority of benchmade's knives.

I tell my wife IF she happens to notice a knife of mine that she's never seen before that "I got it for free for filling out an online survey" and only if I don't beat her to the mail box. he he Hope she doesn't read this!! ha

I like Rough Rider knives:o

I find sharpening knives,tedious & boring.:eek::o

Can't believe that nobody has said that they play with their knives while on the pot, even shaving their leg hair while...just...um...sitting...there. Well. Ahem...I just thought that some of you weird knife guys might do something weird like that. I never have.

LOL Didn't want to admit to this one. I keep a sharpening stone near the pot so I can multitask.

I'll do that every now and again. The only problem is that my legs go numb after a while.

Not 1, but 2: I knifesturbate with Cold Steel's plastic pigstickers, and once lost my favourite SAK (Rambler) to a "security" checkpoint. So much for situational awareness...

My sins :D
1) I've found my EDC grail long time ago... but I'm constantly buying new blades... Then I'm selling them & buying another :D
2) Right now, my wife has more knives in hm... collection (?) then me! And that's odd.
3) I'm not going to take a shower without a knife...
4) without a knife I feel somewhat naked...

Most of the knives in my kitchen are dull. My wife gets mad when I sharpen them!

Holy crap, same here! Why is that? I sharpen them up all nice, and she says it's too sharp. I tell her dull knives are dangerous, but she'll just hear none of it. Women. Even worse, she also collects knives...WTHHHH? I'll never understand her. Thank goodness she's hot.:D

My dirty secret...

While I only buy one of each model of an expensive high end knife (ie. crk sebenza etc.), I go ahead and buy two or more of a nice cheaper brand (ie. crkt drifter, bm pikaII, etc). Oh the guilt...shameful guilt.:o:o:o:D

I've bought 2 Blade Tech's Magnums (Pro Hunter, MLEK) because I couldn't decide on which blade. I told the dealer I was going to send one back, but never could decide which one. So now I have both and STILL don't have a Spyderco Stretch II because of it!

I learned how to hand sharpen knives on Spyderco Sharpemaker stones because for the past 8 months I still can't decide which set, or size benchstones stones to purchase.
I'll decide someday knarfeng:);)

I own a couple of Smith and Wesson knives. I also own an Extrema Ratio a 1/4 inch thick hollow ground Tanto that's only good for fending off car doors. I own one of those Cold Steel Magnum Tantos too. Overpriced, but i can see why people would be attracted to it.

In a past life i collected 'custom' Balisongs... and a couple of the better known, more respected makers didn't live up to the hype. If i mentioned them by name, it would cause a shitstorm.

I like the movie Rambo because of "The Knife"

My wife bought me a cheap Chinese liner lock that didn’t lock. I “accidentally” left it in my overnight bag for airport security.

I don’t believe the saying “A dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one”. The knives I’ve sharpened for my mom and wife have disapproved that theory.

I have family in NW Arkansas and haven’t been to any of the “knife places”.:grumpy:

the Military with its lack of liner on one side really bothers me..... I much prefer the Tenacious...

I own a Duncan Silent Op but it is so big and macho it scares me....but it is so smooth.

The Military actually has dual nested liners, unless you have an older model. ;)

My dirty laundry, some of which borders on blasphemy:

1. I have drawers full of nice customs and productions, but I EDC a SAK Classic and a PE Spyderco Ladybug.

2. Several years ago, I decided to get back "into" knives. I thought maybe I'd like to get a yellow mini-Griptilian. Well, several years and several thousand dollars of buying/selling later (it adds up), I actually just got around to getting a yellow mini-Grip last week, the knife that I meant to get all along.

3. Sometimes I buy flavor-of-the-month knives.

4. I don't like leather sheaths or skull lanyard beads.

5. I have a SuperKnife.

6. For years I stalked a good deal on my grail knife (a Dozier). I finally got one, found it heavy and bulky in the hand, and sold it off.

7. When my arms start getting patchy, I test sharpness on parts of my legs.

8. When I'm up late on the computer, my wife thinks I'm watching porn but I'm actually watching knife reviews on YouTube.

Oh the shame. Great thread!
