What are your dirty little knife secrets

I always carry a Spydie. Even while asleep

Traded or gave away all my PE and CE Spydies and only have fully serrated ones now.

1. I still think my CS master tanto is my best knife.
2. All my kitchens knives are blunt....
3. I'm EDCing a Junglee Marshall for ni other reason than is thin.
4. My winter coat usally has 2 CS spikes in the pockets.
5. I don't like the knife I carry for archery, but can't be bothered to change it.

When doing food prep with a Chef's Knife... I draw towards me, rather than away. The horror!

I have a junk folder (Smith & Wesson SWAT) that I abuse to no end because A) I enjoy sharpening a little bit too much and B) secretly want it to break so I have an excuse to buy something new. I also have a S&W SWAT II which I also secretly wish would fail, but I baby it just because it has a first production run stamp on it.

I haven't actually counted the knives in my collection, but it's probably around 100. I have four Kershaw Leeks that are my EDC's, feel naked witout one. Two of them are in S30V, one is the composite D2 and the expensive one is in ZDP189. I really like The Shun classic knives in my kitchen, but also use cheap Forstner paring knives. My curiosity leans toward metallurgy and some of the exotics like Talonite or Boye's cobalt dendrite boat knives (have two). My favorite sheath knife is the camillus talonite cuda talon because it fits my hand perfectly. I have a couple of Busse knives and Falknivens. I use SAK's and leathermans on a regular basis. And I have a bunch of bare blades in my workshop that need to have scales put on. I've been trying to wrap red parachute cord on a Spyderco CPM s90v mule while doing my work tonight.

I like CRKT knives, not all but quite a few. They get a bad rap and "maybe" deservedly so.

I have Benchmade (my favorite knife company) Spyderco, Kershaw and many nice production knives but some of the knives I like are CRKT, what I call gimmicky/innovative knives.

My salvation though is my all time honest to God EDC is my Benchmade 551 full size Griptilian...makes my liking of CRKT kinda seem ok:thumbup::D

Hey!! me too. And I won't apologise for it either dagnabbit.

I once bought a Cold Steel Nightshade boot knife.

I don't own boots and am puzzled as to why I thought I needed a plastic knife and confused as to why I thought it would cut anything.

I think I was mesmerized by LT's "Proof" videos.....

That may be dirty and knife-related, but it hasn't been a secret for years. ;)

I'm too much of a blabbermouth about knives to have knife secrets. :o

Although I've been collecting knives for as long as I can remember, I've only very recently been able to sharpen properly. :o

LIke others I have many, many knives of all kinds but the one I have used/carried the most is/was a (choke) Gerber EZ Out; had a First Production I got from A.G. that was numero uno for years and I lost it by being stupid; have a couple of others but they are not the same; carrying a BM Dejavoo right now but often, and probably today, pick up the EZ Out to do my thing out on the property.

I...don't really think that I have any knife secrets. Other than the fact that I have a few knives I think look too pretty to use ( a couple of limited editions that I got mostly for kicks) everything I have stays razor sharp, treated with respect, and well-used. I own everything from straight razors to spears, and they all get treated right.

Though I must confess...I don't mind keeping a factory bevel if it's not too thick. :)

I've been getting into well made "cheap" knives. Just picked up two compression lock knives off the bay from a fella and probably are as good as any folder I have ever owned! Lock ups are excellant, blade geometry excellant(full flat grinds), 440c steel and liners, nice g10 etc. etc. I feel bad about it too, as I haven't been carrying my Rhino as of late nor my 7's. These are from the same manufacture'er that makes the Byrd line of knives.

Matter of fact I am liking more and more the inexpensive side of knives with the modern methods of making them. CRKT Falcon, Boker M type, these two compression lock knives, Ontario Rat 1. I'm tellin ya if ain't a steel snob these work great and honed correctly the edges last a good long time. keepem sharp

PS I have never ever meant a neck knife that I liked and frankly as long as I am the subject not necessarily neck knives mind you, but I hate the small pocket sized fixed blades and any and all knives with square points and fixed blades with wavy or uneven grinds.

I always buy a new knife, say $80+ and think to myself ill abuse the crap out of it and it'll hold but then i get it home and admire it and keep it out, but never use it until i eventually drop it or scratch it and it's not new anymore. Owell, i'm weird lol. took me a year to use my griptilian. BUT i will use a swiss army knife right out of the box because i've never been able to really break one and i love the blades.

1.)...I watch Frost Cutlery sometimes on HSN...

2.)Also, although I hide it from company, I own one of those crappy KA-BAR GenII Fighting Knife knock-offs from the flea market.

I've used it on stuff I know I can't put an eye out with (like cutting butter and bologna)...but I have to do something with it because the wife bought it for me and I don't want to hurt her feelings.

I'm not a complete bastard.

And finally:

3.)...I went out two weeks ago and had three knives hidden on my person: One in my boot, one in my left pocket (I'm a southpaw) and one in the back of my waistband. I have no Earthly idea why, I've never done it before and haven't since. For some reason the little voice in my left eye kept telling me to do it. So I did. And for some reason I felt good.
A day later I felt like a complete Tac-tard. Still can't figure why I was absolutely compelled to carry that many knives. :barf:

I don't know if you'd call this a secret, but it's something that's been on my mind for a while now and I always want to mention it, but never have.

I love Boker's traditional line and occasionally carry an old carbon, jigged bone stockman. But I think the Subcom is the ugliest knife design I've ever seen. I know Chad's a member here and is a good guy, but I just don't like the knife. After handling one, I liked it even less.

I kinda feel bad about it, in the same way that I've always been a fan of Mantle, Ruth, Gherig, DiMaggio and Don Mattingly, but I hate the New York Yankees with a passion.

I own custom and expensive, brand name, production knives and the knife with the most comfortable handle is my $13 Frosts Clipper. :o :(

I don't have any Cold Steel but always thinking of getting one.

I think being an armchair commando is pretty cool, at least we can be enthus about something.

I honestly believe that some productions are better than customs (esp. BM, Spyderco).

I sharpen A LOT.

I absolutely hate it when irresponsible people (irresponsible friends) borrow my knife fearing that they will use them irresposibly.
Usually I just respond "oops, sorry. today is my non-knife day"

Dang, I'm ashamed.
