I like Spyderco folders and mules; and Busse fixed blades. After that, I've got a number of individual knives from various makers, but it's just the particular knife I like and not so much the "brand name".
Lionsteel, Tops, Steel Will, Protech.
Old school Benchmades, Spyderco, Blackjacks and Cold Steel.
Used Emersons.
Guardian Tactical otf's.
Microtech LUDT/UMS autos.
Specialty Bucks and Kershaws in Sanvik or $30V .
1980's Japanese brands. Valor, Explorer, Fury.
For me it would be
Case
Buck
Spyderco
Victorinox
. The victorinox was a surprise for me. I've only carried them for the last year or so but they are great. I've owned one Benchmade s full size grip. Great knife i would like to get a bug out at some point. Most days a buck and a case are what would be in my pocket a bug out may change that though
Les George has to be my favorite. I'm not a person who likes flippers that much but all of his flipper knives, the collaborations included, are some of the best operating to me. I love the Talos the best and the VECP is great also.
I just bought my first Hinderer after my brother hounded me for years and I have to say, I think I get it. I opted for the XM-18 non-flipper with black G10 and working finish and 20CV blade. I'm looking at an XM-24 and a Zero Tolerance collaboration now.
Spyderco and Zero Tolerance make up a fair bit of my collection. Benchmade is also very good.
I have a few knives from Camillus when they had the CUDA line that are great. Some older Wilson Combat Elite knives that have been with me for years and were carried by me for years in places that they shouldn't have been. A couple of Darrel Ralph knives that I like and few HTM knives before they were Kizer. I have a grip of Chris Reeve knives also. There are so many others but those are a few that stand out readily in my mind.
The top hitters would be:
1. CRK. When I think of Chris Reeve Knives, I think of perfection. They have mastered the art of machining and manufacturing.
2. Spyderco. High quality, high performance and an amazing amount of variety in their designs. A very interesting knife company to follow and see what designs appear next.
3. Various Bladeforums custom maker. Right now I'm carrying a Phillip Patton Kwaiken that is so easy to carry and wicked sharp. A high quality piece.
CRK, Victorinox, Buck, GEC, and Case. Lion Steel is in the mix also. Loved Hinderer knives for a long time, but their refusal to make their XM's adaptable to lefty carry (c'mon a couple of holes drilled to reposition the clip should not be so impossible) make them a non starter for me now.
