What are your "I'm not screwing around" knives?

Pretty much all of them. I treat all knives with the same care I do a firearm.

id have have to pick a few.my bm grip eats through everything i throw at it,my kershaw storm is a good user and my sog flash and twitch collection have never let me down in any situation

And this new Boker+ CLB M-Type is really starting to grow on me (despite being made in China)....

For tasks that require a lot of cutting and outdoor chores, I reach for my Buck 110. It's a pretty hefty knife and cuts exceptionally well. If the tasks require things like food prep for an afternoon of grilling, I pull out a Paramilitary or even a SAK Cadet.

Victorinox Soldier SAK and a Spyderco Armorer's Endura. Both are EDC for me and are the ones I'd likely have on me when it's time to stop "screwing around".

Most pocket knives to me are "utility" and I cut food with them so I tend to grab a fixed blade when I need to get down and dirty, the knife I've used the past year is a Glock field knife.

Only folder I can think of that I've treated that way are my Leatherman tool blades, scrape wire, cut heavy plastic Etc.

My biggest beaters are a griptillian and a blur both with broken tips chips and everything, i have a buddy with a griptillian that he has sharpened so manytimes that the entire serrated section is almost missing its really time for him to get a new knife, im not a big fan of the griptillian so whenever i need to scrape or do light prying or strike a ferro rod its firt on the chopping block, have also used an endura alot.

my ontario rat 3 and TAK have been used rather extensivley and have gone through a few sharpenings in their time.

if i was out in the woods though my busse skinny ash is the knife to choose though backed up by my RAT-4. plus leatherman of course.

for combat id take my emerson cqc-7 my RAT-3 and my BUSSE hell razor those would get the job done

Okay, so what do you guys go for when coolness is secondary to getting the job done efficiently?
I believe people should carry both smaller knives and larger knives. In one situation, a doctor friend of mine (M.D.) and a buddy came upon a young girl choking on something. This was in the days before the Heimlich maneuver, and he realized that something was lodged in her throat. She was two shades of purple and in a flash he'd removed his pen knife and opened her trachea. He inserted something into her throat and got her breathing again.

A larger knife would have made this sort of thing difficult to say the least.

But there are situations in which larger knives are best. If someone's coat is caught in an escalator or trapped in a burning vehicle and encumbered by a seat belt, a good 4-5-inch bladed knife could save the day.

For a small knife, I'd have a difficult time beating a Spyderco Native. The shape of the point would actually be a plus. For the larger knife, I like almost any decent 4-incher, and the Cold Steel Gunsite is what I go with. A plain edge, though, seems to be increasingly intriguing since a good blade can go through a seat belt or clothing whilst a serrated blade might have trouble with some fabrics.

I use whatever I'm carrying.

My benchmade skirmish is my "Im here to work" knife I guess. For everthing else Ill usually throw on my dejavoo or my D2 kershaw JYD CB.

One of the great things about the Spyderco Endura is you don't have to go looking for another knife. You've got it with you and you have no problem using it. My old pointy tip model even has a built in "small knife" up at the tip. ;)

Maybe I'm dense, but what do we mean by "not screwing around"?
Seems guys are talking about their EDCs, not "What would you grab on the way out if you knew you'd have to really rely on your blade?".

To me, it was a question about what blade of mine I'd take if mine, or someone else's life depended on it. Is that what we're asking, or are we asking what I'd use if I had to cut up a lot of boxes, or the top of an oil can to use as a funnel or something?

Currently it's a PE Spyderco Military, but pretty soon I'll have a SE Para. :D

I find it's easier to abuse knives that have already been used by others. Kinda like torching your tires on the road because you know that their already bald.

If I were broken down 20 miles from town, I'd use whatever knife I had to pry, scrape, or cut whatever I needed to get the vehicle running. However, If I were doing the same repair in my driveway, I'd take the extra time to get more appropriate tools for the job. Therefore, I rarely give a knife truely tough treatment.

When I think I will really have to do hard or dirty work with a knife, I usually take on or more of these four; ZT MUDD, VIC Locksmith, Opinel #8, 18" HI Pen Knife -

The Locksmith is so versatile, it offers lots of tools as well as a sturdy cutting blade. The Opinel cuts very well, and was inexpensive enough that I don't mind getting it dirty. I broke the point off of it a while back. The MUDD is a tough, tough folder. I've used it of late on a deconstruction project, and it has proven not only tough but reliably easy to open one-handed. The HI Pen is great when something simply must be cut down!

These are my two "Yes, I really meant it when I said leave me alone!" knives, Spyderco Superhawk and Bark River Slither -

I almost always have my Busse GW with me. It is .22 thick, and convexed sharp. But I have to say, when I am at home, and I have some scraping, crappy, dirty, clean up job, I reach for my old friction folder that is not very sharp.

I just don't like having to spend extra time sharpening my carry knife.

Most the cutting chores I do involve either the GW, or a modded SS busse.

I have a CS recon1 tanto that used to get used a ton for everything. That is my back up go to blade, but I don't carry it as much in the last while. The little GW just seems lest intimidating. Although I did use it the other day to open a package and a lady looked away, and said "I am going to pretend I did not see that!"

i use whatever is in my pocket at the time, but if i know ahead of time i may be cutting things that are generally rough on a knife ill use my SOG Trident just because i really dont like the knife too much anymore, and ive already beat it up a bit. also my spyderco tenacious because ive beat it up and its pretty easily replaced
