What Becker would you make?

I cant believe that nobody else is on board with a Uber BK-5 a 14-16 inch BK-5 would be the sickest machete in history

While I do think it's cool, and I would buy one, IMO the BK-5 and BK-15 both represent perfection to me just as they are.

A Brute that works the way we wish it would, or the way it looks like it should - maybe a little thinner in the handle, possibly the handle angled a little more like the Machax, narrower blade towards the handle......Hell, I don't have a clue what would make that thing work better - it just looks like it could be a great knife.

Thanks, Dubz. I guess I'm wondering why there's so much area in the ricasso, and why the thumb depression as well - they seem to serve no purpose; with the edge starting so far out from the handle it doesn't look as if you'd be able to do any fine work. Come to think of it, while I love the large Becker scales, it seems like all of the full size knives could use a scale redesign that lets you choke up a little easier; something like the little depression on the TOPS B.O.B. Imma hafta experiment with that when I get around to finishing some of those wood scales I've got lying about.

A BK-24 with a false swedge, using at the very least 440C steel or better, thumb jimping, and properly finished in smooth satin. Add to this a pair of smooth, low profile, flat, ebony scales with red liners.

Ya know what, I take back my request for a 2/9 hybrid. I want this:

Not as sexy as the original Brute but form follows function and this should also be easier to manufacture. Ditch the sharpening choil though. Maybe loose the thumb depression to make it even easier-cheaper to make (it would be easy enough to grind one in there yourself) and a more pronounced depression or even a full-on finger choil on the riccaso.

I'm in the process of making my own Becker style hawk but in reality I can't really be bothered to commit the funds or spend the time grinding the design out of the 5" wide stock.

A Becker machete would be nice to see...Either the return of the 6 or something new entirely.

1/4" thick, 10" long blade, chisel tip, full flat grind. Think of an Ontario SP8 on a becker handle with some tweeks that I think it could use. Notice how I didn't mention a saw back. The saw on the SP8 sucks so just leave it off.

Maybe even more than that I'd want a BK14 with a chisel tip symmetrically ground blade about 3-3.5" long.

Yes, it does suck. But it does not have to suck. I modified mine quite nicely with my dremel tool & a cut-off wheel. First, i sharpened up all the edges of the saw, then, i cut grooves across the saw teeth tops at an angle. It now removes wood like nobody's business. Does not clog up either. I did NOT sharpen the first 4 closest to the handle as i use them for/as jimping. The saw back will now cut a notch a 1/4" deep in wood in about 30 seconds or less. :D Easy peasy. Took like 5 minutes or less total.

I would make a pair of Nessmuks. One large for chopping ( 10" blade), one tweener size with jimping all along the spine, almost to the tip.

1/4" extra large cleaver & 3/16" smaller size cleaver.

BK9 in 1/4" also.

Anyone else here think of the Cold Steel warcraft when they read this?

Yeah, I've seen pics of your mod and it looks good. I still say leave it off. A laplander is pretty light if I need to carry a saw.

Never heard of it and a google search got nothing.

I wouldn't mind seeing a flat ground or sabre ground potbelly with the full size Becker handles.
