What brands do you like?

Al Mar, Benchmade, Chris Reeve, Victorinox, Opinel, some Emersons, some Cold Steels (especially the fixed blades)

I mostly go by design, build quality, materials, and general consensus on QC-- I will buy anything from anyone, pretty much. But to answer the question, my collection as of now favors Cold Steel and Kershaw-- I've started getting into Spyderco recently as well. I also really like Fox Knives (FKMD) for their unique designs and good build quality. Can't go wrong with Victorinox either; I've never had a bad knife from them, ever.

Fixed,

Swamp Rat
Scrap Yard
ESEE
Fallkniven

Folders
Spyderco
Benchmade
ZT

Those are really the only brands of knife I will buy. I don't own anything other than those brands and haven't for a good while.

For folders, I like Kershaw/ZT, SAK and Benchmade and for fixed blades I like ESEE and Fallkniven.

They are all good, just different, buy what you like.

There is a lot of variety out there and most manufacturers have different price ranges that will fit different peoples needs.

I find myself always coming back to Spyderco for folders.. they just do it right.

Fixed I like Bark River.. but going to try an ESEE soon.

Since this is more about brands than knives ...
