What Buck are you carrying today?

Among the ongoing debates within the Buck community is, which is the best larger Stockman patterned knife, the 301 (made in USA) or 371 (made in China). One man’s opinion: I like them both! To me, the 301 has superior steel (420HC) and a better edge grind, whereas the 371 has slightly better fit and finish and is cheaper. Carrying both today.

Note the 301 is on the RIGHT. -EDIT

Slice-and-dice Slice-and-dice , I like them both too! They're a couple of my favorites. Today I have a 301 in my pocket, but I'm more likely to carry a 371 when I'm hiking with my nephews. It's a nice enough knife that they're really impressed, but I don't fret too much when it gets dropped on hard surfaces. I found my 371 in a parking lot, so it'd already been dropped at least once.

By the way, I like the color on your 371!

Finally got a bit of wet stuff from above today, need more though.
Not enough to write home about, but just enough to break out the oilskin lid.

Today's trio (because I have three pockets ;) )
2023 Buck 301, 2007 Buck 112, 2023 Buck The 55

All have my favorite steel for a trip into the woods: 420HC. Easy to sharpen, never rusts, holds a decent edge, and importantly, Buck will reblade for a small fee if you get "over zealous" on a cutting maneuver.

Nice looking trio. Reminds me the 55 is still on my list to get; keep hoping for a special version of that to be released (with time enough for me to get one).

I'd love a special version 55 also Tim! I missed out on the BOTM a few months back, in June I believe. It had 154 CM, Ironwood and a nice pewter shield. I blew it! Here's hoping for another one soon...

BBcode????
Yes, when you bring up(click on) one of your images from your album and it comes on the screen it has a list of functions on the right side. One of those is the BBCode used for messages and forums.
