What Buck are you carrying today?

Seriously folks have y'all noticed just how very many MORE people are carrying and using the 112 in the last few years? I have been in the BCCI and on the Forum here since 2007 or so and a certified 112 Fanboy shortly after that. The 112 at that time was not just the 110's little Brother but basically the 'Redheaded Stepchild' of Bucks folders. Very few nickel silver frames drop point and/or super steel blades fancy LE's or gold etch blades. But since around 2016 that started to change.
I haven't looked at this thread for at least 3 weeks and I was again struck by how many folks are now collecting and using the 112.. Not too big not too little.. just right.
bucksway bucksway , I kind of have you to blame for inspiring me to pursue the 112 on a more regular basis. :) You and the 112 Ranger appreciation thread here have bolstered my interest in this great knife. The truth is, I have far more 110's than 112's. As I have described in past postings, the 110 was what I considered my first "real" knife. It just looked and felt right. A man had to have one... or six. I thought that for probably 50 years or more. It's a bias that was formed in my childhood. That said, I have somewhat recently began wondering if my first "real" knife had been a 112, if my bias would lean that way instead? I found it's a perfect, pocket size knife that does everything the 110 does. It's my Sunday go to meetin' knife. But I use it for a lot of work days too. I have come to really appreciate the drop point in this size too - more so than on the 110. Not sure why. But I do know that your influence carrying the 112 Ranger banner has helped sway me to carry the 112 more often now. I realize now it just works on so many levels. And if I only had a 112 (perish the thought), I wouldn't consider myself lacking. I think more people are recognizing that now. I am wanting to add a few more unique editions to my collection because to me they've become as iconic as my 110's.

This is my meager collection of users. There are a few more I didn't round up, but these are the five I go to most. The middle one is in my pocket today.

I'm generally a clip point guy but the 112 looks like it was made for a drop point blade. Love the top 2.

So do I. I have always preferred the clip point of my 110's and 112's. That is, until I got the top 112 in my picture. It could all be in my head, because the edge is basically the same, but I really like using those drop point 112's. What I find strange, is that while I have a couple of drop point 110's, the clip point is what goes in the sheath more often then not.

For any first time 112 user who want to try a 112 for every day use my ALL TIME favorite configuration is a drop point super steel blade preferably in S30V a nickel silver frame bareheaded in Elk or Stag. The slightly longer bareheaded handle especially Stag or a textured grippy material gives you a lot of control and ease of use. I gradually went to a open top shieth for convenience and have not lost a knife yet. There's different DP blade profiles and one of my favorites is the 450..
