What Buck Do You Have on Order? Or in the Mail?

A mid-50s Group 9 lignum vitae 102 is in the mail (top photo). The seller says the blade length is 3 3/4".

My mid 50s long 102 (nearly 4.5") is shown in the lower photo. I'll post a size comparison photo when the new one arrives.

The variation in these old knives is substantial even within the same model number.

Generalist Generalist Congrats. Nice to see that 122 went to someone on the forum. Look forward to some better pics.

from Holding An Edge:

"about 1971 or 1972 when model numbers were added to the stamps" (the three line invert) "Then in 1972 or possible early 1973 the orientation was changed to be read with the knife pointed up."

AR-Trvlr AR-Trvlr Your sheath matches the description of those made by the in-house leather shop at Buck, which began in 1969 until the mid 1980s. Interestingly the bottom rivet securing the belt loop appears to have been installed opposite the norm with the smooth head on the inside of the sheath.

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate the knowledge and willingness to help that we get from the users here.

Thanks. I have the micarta and fiber versions and have hoped for one of these for quite awhile. I'll share a photo of all 3 when it arrives. The phenolic 122/124 is one of my favorite knife designs.

I pulled the trigger on a 112 sport pro yesterday and I just got notified it has shipped . Buck kept sending me a email saying that they were getting low in stock and did I want another look so I did. 😆 Ive been considering it for a while but I have so many nice knives that it’s difficult to decide which to use that day. 😆 I think it will get lots of pocket time and I don’t need as large of a knife now that I’m retired.

I predict that you will like it quite a bit. I have one of the S30V models and it’s a mighty fine knife. Feels wonderful in the hand. Even better than the standard 112’s in my opinion which also have a great in hand feel.

Congrats!

I have one of the aluminum frame 112 with Koa wood inserts and s45vn blade that was a botm a few years ago. But it doesn’t have the pocket clip and it’s just to nice to make it a edc knife. Otherwise I would carry it regularly.

Pulled the trigger on this one tonight: 535 Open Season Moose Skinner Limited Edition. Not sure if I paid too much, but I knew I would regret it if I let it slip through my fingers. (Seller's pics.)

I've always thought that was a great looking knife.
I've always liked the Open Season knives.
I've got every model in one variation or another.
👍

I haven't been buying many new knives lately.
....Drove past a truck stop today and diesel was $7.10 gallon in
Mid Michigan. Wants vs needs.
