What Buck,What Gun ?

Here is what accompanied me to church this AM:

That's a five-shot .44 Special S&W 296 AirLite Ti with Speer 200gr Gold Dots and a Robert Mika's pocket holster. So holstered, it fits about 75% of my pants' front pockets, the 642 I pictured earlier fits all of them. The knife is my CS 110 of BG-42/Ni-Ag/orange Fiji wood. I am a door greeter/parking lot walker. Churches around here have lost their A/C copper and parishioners SUV's catalytic converters - during services! A year ago, we lost one unit's copper during the day at this church. Thieves have no class.

Oh, that MG in my earlier post was a .45 Colt chambered 625MG - those are Speer 250gr Gold Dots in the speedloader. As others have said, you have to shoot what you carry to stay 'prepared' - much more fun in that gun than the Airweight or AirLite - they are brutal! Of course, that MG is downright fun with typical .45 Colt 'cowboy loads'. If you've never plinked with a handgun for fun, you need to try it - while we still can! The cost is escalating - and ranges are fewer and further between. Most still have rentals, too - just bring ear plugs and safety glasses - for everyone you bring.

How many police agencies run around all day in shorts and t-shirts?
In southern California a lot of them! (off duty that is.) That's why I carried a High Standard Derringer that could easily fit in my back pocket inconspicuously. At that time, my knife of choice was my 1st version 112.

It was a two-shot 22 magnum. Doesn't sound like much but it packed quite a wallup. Friend of mine was confronted and had to put two rounds into a would be home robbery suspect. and put him down for good.

22 Mag.Yea.. I did not think that 45lc was right .After I thought about if for awhile. One of my friends had a High standard 22lr.
I think I was thinking about the one made in Waco or somewhere like that.

Anyway I like the 112 Buck as a shorts thing.

The early 110s had longer blades than the newer ones.......

So the 112 is the short, the recent 110 is the long, and the early 110 would be the long knifle.

The 120 is the magnum.

Phooey! Guns should be made of forged steel, not Tupperware rejects!
Revolvers are great.....if you need a boat anchor! :p
But if you need a real pistol, then plastic is fantastic!

Just kidding. ;)

Personally, I prefer "tupperware rejects"....I've yet to find any autoloader that has been more reliable than my Glock.
I show my friends my revolver....but I show my enemies my Glock!

I guess I just don't have as many 'enemies'... a five shot 'works for me'!

I sold my G21 nearly ten years ago. With +2 extenders, it held 15+1 .45 ACP - and fed fine, never a misfeed - pretty accurate, too. It just had about as much character as the container I put last night's dinner leftovers in... which was, let's see, Tupperware!

Now, an AG 110 in S30V, de-nuded of it's black blade coating - that's cool! How'd you do that? I guess if it was some proprietary Glock solvent, I'm really out of luck...

TFIC, of course!

Trick photography. ;)

Remember....anyone worth shooting once is worth shooting twice!
So if you "double-tap" your targets, a five shot revolver is only good for 2 1/2 targets.
And even the best miss occassionally.

Not only that.....it's a whole new world out there.

Every punk and his brother has an Uzi or some other little full-auto toy and they drive at least four to a car.

I like the 11 in my Glock 26 as opposed to five in the Smith. I also like the quick 15-round refill as opposed to fumbling for ammo while dying.

If I'm gonna go to the trouble (and it IS trouble) of carrying a handgun.......I'm sure not gonna limit myself.

With all this talk of Uzi's and the need for reloading after 11 rounds fired. You got to be kidding me. First, my derringer was an off-duty weapon. If I'm going to war, the derringer stays home.

Both are at best useless, probably dangerous to you, for self defense without training...I highly recommend that you seek good training in the use of both.

I'm surprised that few of you mentioned any slim pistols like the Ruger P345. 45ACP, slim plastic fantastic compact frame....

There are few people who realistically would carry something like a Government sized 1911 or even a typical full size Glock, Sig, etc on a daily basis.

As for the Buck knife...as pretty much everyone has already said, any of the above would be fine for daily usage. For self-defense or back-up, I'd prefer a fixed blade and not really any of the current Buck line..........maybe the Buck Mayo Kaala with the handle wrapped...

One of the nice things about the High Standard .22 magnum derringer is its very narrow profile. It will fit easily and undetected in a rear pants pocket. On duty, a lot of cops would actually carry it on their gun belt in a second hand cuff case as a back-up weapon. It's not a .45 cal, but really a great little weapon. As a pocket carry companion, as I said, the 112 is perfect.

Off duty, on duty......whatever. If it turns out to be a war, you'll damn well wish you had something better than that lil' mouse gun.

If it turns out to be a war and the enemy has an Uzi or some other full auto and they are four to a car, you probably best bend over and kiss it goodbye because your Glock, or any other semi-auto, isn't going to be of much use either.

I'd have a far better chance of discouraging them than the guy with the two-shot .22 though.

If I'm going to carry, I'll choose to carry something that makes sense......and I do, every day.
