SAK Farmer cannot be mentioned enough.
Spyderco Native S30V is the cheapest knife I have seen in that steel.
 
I have a gerber metolius folder it's a great knife for the price I used it alot camping I can only imagine the fixed blade being even better

man this thread was fun to look through, i made lots of discoveries. I'm by no means a huge knife collector, and I love sub $50 great value!

and after reading this thread, I'm going to pick up an Opinel #6, Buck 110, and a rough rider :)
 
I'd recommend a KaBar USMC for by the bed, and a Spyderco Pacific Salt for the pocket. That should do the casual user well.
