What Did You Cut with Your Buck (Yesterday or Today)?

One thing I remembered today . . . the false edge on a 110 or 112 makes a great letter opener. It's sharp enough to whiz through envelopes, and you can keep the really edge scary sharp for other tasks.
 
i jest cut my self on the thumb again...
all my edc's are 'bloody'
cought my self putting a bid in on a 446
then nit my head on the key board and woke up :(

ahee rhino ! i gots some new stuff in a jar !
called apple pie... it will kill mice but comes deliuated
so it kbe safe for misdismatulll reasons and uses ...
and i dont's keep in in de barn no mo... hee hee
so ya dont bee a needing to slip it in da dor and
cut the rope a holding de door latch!
 
yester day i was boarded and with leg hurting nothing else i could do productive
(bumm leg cant work on displays!)
got to looking around and sorting some knives
well the yorky come in from out with a toy that had been left out too long
and being boarded i got to thinking too hard and ...
well i could not resist testing some of the DM i got...
test was on wet leather raw hide (suprise!)
and arm hair and finger nail ! {ouch}
[i did not do a rope cutting test as i did not have a rope dog toy]

3 types of DM or rather 3 diffrent issues of it from buck
A) an older dm with year dates
B) newer with date and diseners choice
C) a verson with no date - custom disners choice in very black steel
D) a 420 hc edge 2000
e) and s30v that is not in a 110 config

over all winner was the s30v but only by a hair!
the B) felt rougher on a finger test and on the nail scrape but cut like crasy on a draw slice on the wet rawhide! the older DM's were oh so close could not pick and s30v was close to the 420

on a stright in cut (like sharpening a pencil)
was a hard choice of the DMs and then d and e but all were oh so close

on arm hair the s30v and 420 were so close.. neather haveing any drag same on the finger nail scrape these i would attempt to shave my upper lip - maybe... the DM's cut but i cold feel a rough ness of some kind on the nail scrape of all of them...

of the impromt to test the two that showed how good the steels were were the wet rawhide stright in and draw slice...
the draw slice realy showed the cuting advantage of DM!
for kitchen or meat use DM is great!

still every day use i will stick with the non DM steels
for skining were you can clean up and wax the baldes before storing i will take the DM...
for fishing i would chouse the s30v over any thing
i wish they offered the 121 in S30V
wow what a pro combo!
well enught of my rambling to each his own...

for rough edc and work use it is still the 420 !
i miss the 440 and wander what BOS could do with it ???!???!??!!!

and sold the last to darryl
had i seen it i myght not have woke up
and placed a bid

I was cutting some paper today (just for the heck of it) with my Buck 110 with BG-42. Lately I've not been happy with the results of my sharpening, so I got inspired to use one of my flat diamond hones (I think it's a DMT) on the fine side for a few strokes. It made a big difference, especially after I "finished" with my trusty worn-out EZLap rod! I'm happy again.
 
Well...I didn't "cut" it, but I used the Mini-BuckTool to open a split ring to put a lanyard on my 889SBMF.

Not planning to cut anything today... but I am gonna lance a septic finger later on tho will use the Dorado for that... does that count?
 
i opened a box with a suprise in it today
i used the china buck i had on the desk
you should see what was in the box !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

likes it and said it was the pettest knife i have:eek:
hee hee ....
i had heard a rummer and went on the hunt
wit the buck hunting yorkies at my feet...;)
it took a long time to find!
and more time ta make it mine!:D

oh well here it is i will be removeing the pict by tomarow

Gonna have a bath... then boil my finger and then will do the business :) also I think I will change the knife.. will use the BP110 - it has more of a point :)

WOW! :eek: :eek: I am liken that new 110 REAL WELL! :D :D I think I see a Yellowhorse on that bolster? DM blade or Chipflint? I cant tell. I like that stag too! :D :D I cant wait to get my new one that I we looked at. Mine not as nice as this one!;) ;)
Ok, how many more brothers does this one have and were can I adopt one?:o :o

That's sweet! I couldn't begin to guess what it is other than the obvious. Drop point, Damascus, stag handeled 110FG, custom etched by DY? Whatever it is, I like it!
