What Did You Cut with Your Buck (Yesterday or Today)?

I used my BG-42ized Buck 110 to cut a label from a cardboard box and to slice open one of those reinforced paper/foil packages that you can't tear. Yesterday I opened some mail.

I sharpened it last night, but I did not do a good job!

I used my 154CM Tempest to once again open some awesome Buck knives products ;)

O.K. here goes JB!

A nice camo one and the black coated!! Hard to find!!!

And heres my user, (so far)

The best multi tools on the market!! :D I have have several other brands and none compare to the Bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice Jim will they be users?,

I have some of the leatherman multi tools. But, I don't have any Buck tools....yet :). Every day I can't wait for the mailman.....alas no package for me.....I've got one more 07 LE due to arrive ;). With all of the great LE's from Buck this year and the club knives.....I may have to get a second job...LOL.

I hope they will become users! I will see how fast I wear out the first one LOL
Second job???? THIRD! LOL
Alot of neat knives this year!!!!

Are the camo Bucktools hard to find? My local knife shop has one. I've been temped several times but it's priced a little high in my opinion. Like jb I own a Leatherman but no Bucktool yet.

A Buck 120BR and my 120BP (Pro-Line) took care of tri-tip for over 750 "motorcycle enthusiasts" along with a brother's 119 that did chicken prep today. I'm tired.

...I just used my newly acquired 2 dot BG-42 110 to slice through one of the potato chip bags made from the metallic material we got from the aliens
very_first_smiley.gif
at Roswell back in '47...That knife must be made of some "alien" steel too...It didn't even notice the bag material as it passed through it like it wasn't there...Great knife...

What did go wrong?

I don't use any kind of guides or machines, just free hand. Sometimes I don't quite "have it," and other times I'm "on." A few days ago, I didn't have it.

On the other hand, I did a good job on my new Snipe. My buddy who originally wanted it (which "forced" me to buy it, naturally) wanted to see the Snipe during our USPSA pistol match today. He actually yelped out loud when he felt how sharp it was. :D

...You're eating CHICKEN?!?!?!...
Trax...
No worries. You east coast chickens keep trying to get over the California border. We got it figured out and can tell a California fresh bird.

From Foster Farms, advocates of California Fresh, a pic of "imposters" coming cross country:

D, worse than that space foil is the plastic used on clam-packs. Damn, that stuff is tough. I tried scissors, but usually come back to a Buck to get through the stuff.

Rhino..what kind of stone(s) do you use when you hand sharpen?

Mostly diamond abrasives. When I am reprofiling an edge, I will use a medium or coarse flat diamond stone. For finishing and re-sharpening, I use a couple of older DMT rods. One is almost worn out, the other nearly so. The latter will still remove enough metal when needed and former works great for finishing for a really nice, grabby slicing edge.

I cut the tape and and bubble wrap with my 110 AG covering my bike motor, skinned some wires with my Buck Xtract and I am busy assembling

So far today I have cut paper and also a plastic lid off of my hummus that came with my Greek food for lunch. This was done with my Founders Edition 112 that is in my pocket today.

I forgot to mention that yesterday I cut some mailer envelopes like they were almost not there with my newly-sharpened BG-42 110. One was made of tyvek, which feels really cool to slice with a nice, sharp blade. The other was a manila envelope with bubble wrap on the inside. I had to open 'em both, then surgically removed the piece with the labels for the shredder.

Last night I then opened a Freschetta pizza. First was the thick plastic wrap on the pizza. Then I had to reduce the carboard underneath and the box to manageable pieces for the trash. That shiny, picture and color-covered cardboard (like the pizza box) is really hard on an edge . . . I think it's the clay.

Saturday I used my 112 to cut the rope bindings on the bow seat of my MadRiver canoe so I could slide the seat all the way aft to help balance the canoe for solo paddling. (This is an old trick for paddling solo in a tandem canoe; sit in the bow seat facing aft and paddle the thing stern ahead.)

I tried kneeling some too. Did that for an hour until I lost all the feeling in my feet from loss of circulation. So I eased back onto the seat. Then the surge of blood back into my legs (and the associated pain) made me a little dizzy. So I leaned forward to tuck my head to my knees. Then...lights out!

While unconscious I apparently slumped to one side and the canoe rolled over and deposited my limp body in the lake in 4 feet of water. I came-to with a loud, involuntary gasp. My first thought was ...wow, why did I just make that gasping noise? Second thought was ...gee, why am I floating in a lake? Third...gee, why is the canoe floating upside down in the lake with me?

Then I remembered my earlier conscious moments. I flipped the canoe and managed to climb back on board. Then I picked up all my stuff floating around the boat.

Casualties:
Cell phone, Nikon binocs$$$, Cannon digital camera$$$. I rescued my PFD which I was not wearing. My Buck 112 Founder's Edition was riding safely on my belt (thank God:) ).
