What Did You Cut with Your Buck (Yesterday or Today)?

Saturday I used my 112 to cut the rope bindings on the bow seat of my MadRiver canoe so I could slide the seat all the way aft to help balance the canoe for solo paddling. (This is an old trick for paddling solo in a tandem canoe; sit in the bow seat facing aft and paddle the thing stern ahead.)

I tried kneeling some too. Did that for an hour until I lost all the feeling in my feet from loss of circulation. So I eased back onto the seat. Then the surge of blood back into my legs (and the associated pain) made me a little dizzy. So I leaned forward to tuck my head to my knees. Then...lights out!

While unconscious I apparently slumped to one side and the canoe rolled over and deposited my limp body in the lake in 4 feet of water. I came-to with a loud, involuntary gasp. My first thought was ...wow, why did I just make that gasping noise? Second thought was ...gee, why am I floating in a lake? Third...gee, why is the canoe floating upside down in the lake with me?

Then I remembered my earlier conscious moments. I flipped the canoe and managed to climb back on board. Then I picked up all my stuff floating around the boat.

Casualties:
Cell phone, Nikon binocs$$$, Cannon digital camera$$$. I rescued my PFD which I was not wearing. My Buck 112 Founder's Edition was riding safely on my belt (thank God:) ).

Start a new thread mate!!!

"How did you come close to killing yourself today.... and did your Buck help? in anyway"

Man... I read your post and like OMFG! I thought I was bad hurtling down a hill on a mountain bike at 45mph into a really muddy forrest was scary! beleive me you hit a root or a tree stump doing 45 on a push bike and you will fly with the birds.

I decided to take care of some clean up around the yard today since it was so warm out and I used my Sirus 298 to cut up some small branches. Then, while inside the house getting some lunch, I used my trusty Mayo TNT to cut up some chicken wings. All in all, it beats the heck out of relying on some dull whatchamajig in the kitchen drawer!

used my 102 around the house a lot. I use it in the kitchen because no one else in the house understands that kitchen knives get dull if you toss them in the sink  . Used it for cutting up some cucumbers and peeling carrots. Its my favorite knife for whittling, closely followed by my saks.
Its my only buck so far, but I plan on getting more.

I used an L.L. Bean 425 Bucklite (B425-LLG-0) to cut some slots in the tongue of my new Rocky snow boots. The tongue keeps slipping to the side, so I thread the top lace through the tongue to hold it in place. :)

The 425 has L.L. Bean® etching on the blade...so far, I've resisted temptation and left it alone...

I used my founders edition 112 to slice up a nice meat and cheese platter for the F1 Australian GP, which aired here late Saturday night. I find the blade length and shape on the 112 to be perfect for this kind of work.

F1 is a nice change of pace from all those annoying things in NASCAR like phantom cautions and endless sponsor dribble. The only problem is that F1 is on at 5:00AM for all the European races  :D

in the evening I cut up a very tasty duck (not a goose) with my 619. At the beginning I used a small Swedish butcher knife, but it didn't do its job. The Buck did it nearly by itself. The best of the knife is the slip proof handle.

I am an F1 and WSC fan. Most Euro races air on SpeedTV (Time Warner Cable here) on Sunday morn, usually 7:30 or so...with a repeat [edited] later on... :)

I enjoyed the Sebring 12 Hours this year...great GT2 race...Forza Ferrari!!! :D

Trax: I want to get into WSC but the weekend just isn't long enough to watch them all. I have a hard enough time keeping up with F1, Indy Car, Champ Car, and NASCAR. Practice, qualifying, race day. Then there is Wind Tunnel on SpeedTV.... Some weekends I'm watching one race while taping two others... lol... Drives my wife crazy :D

Sebring was indeed a great race!

With three blades, all with different degrees of sharpness, I was able to open several boxs (with the main sharp clip blade), trim a cigar (with the very sharp sheep's foot blade), finish a small carving for my granddaughter (with the very very sharp and modified pen blade).
Buck knifes are always up to any task.

I thought cut open the back of my computer chair with my 655 while I was practicing snap cuts. Upon further inspection I just nicked the fabric, but there is a visible line.

I guess I should practice outside.

I used my newly repaired Buck 110 to cut some rope.Man:thumbup: that sucker is sharp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hawkeye

I cut up some branches and cardboard boxes with my BP110 and then used my 112 for some food preparation in the afternoon...

Both knives performed very very well

I used my Buck Sirus 298 ATS 34 like it was a chisel while installing some baseboard around a bookshelf. It cut like butter!

Did not cut anything exactly... I made some pilot holes so I could screw my Lansky pedestal to some wood with my 112

Nothing sexy or cool today, just a box for the wife.

I think I'm going to take my custom with me to the sandbox though just so I have some good stories with it:D
