What did you do to/with your Becker today?

Woke up this morning and my Dad asked if I was busy or if I could clear up the back yard where we will be installing a new fence, the old one's long gone and a big holly tree took over the fence line.

So. I did what any ration knife guy would do:

duel-wielded a BK9 and Parangatang, of course. Made short work of the pruning. The Parangatang had some epic chops, 1.5in in 1 slice.

It took less than 10 minutes.

Next was the processing phase, had to get the pieces small enough for the yard waste bin (yeah, we're city dwellers). My youngest sister and middle brother wanted to help, so I let her try out all my knives. She likes the BK9 the best (figures) but enjoyed the Bushfinger for whittling duties

My younger brother has his own big knife, the Viper Carnera: 9.5in of FFG D2 steel with micarta. It's a nice knife

The brush pile after we were done was decently sized, and all had a good time

My sister had a blast with the big knives

That's awesome, King. I just got out the RBK and set up the fire lay for this evening. Used my 11 to open the bottle of lubricant ;). Last day of school vacation for my girls, so we're having an early fire.

Fires are good, wish we had more of them at home but my dad's asthmatic and is allergic to wood smoke, so we mostly avoid fires outside of camping trips.

I gotta be careful in the warmer weather when the neighbors have their windows open - sadly both of them are using oxygen and the smoke isn't helpful in the least for either of them. The gentleman (Lenny) is awesome, but he worked for the electric utility company and has pulmonary fibrosis, only diagnosed after he retired. Sucks, 'cause the utility co. docs kept telling him he was fine (lots of asbestos, not very much in the way of PPE)and shortly after he retired, this.Super vital guy that now can't go anywhere without oxygen. Been my neighbor for 13 years and it's tough to see him this way.

But it's February, their windows are closed, and I'm combusting wood. Brought to you by the RBK, 16 & 11. FIRE!

lol :p

She told me she was scared of the Parangatang because it was big and heavy, as soon as that chop was done she asked for the BK9 back, she used it for the rest of the time.

Sadly, my little sister (who is now 47!) freaks when I open a folder within 20 feet of her. I made her a kitchen knife (from a kit) that she uses very day.....but she'll likely never lay a hand on any of my choppers, I'd guess.

Went biking today

When a church owns and helps maintain the trail system, you can expect some interesting names.

Oh no! A tree fell across the trail! I didn't bring a saw, what can I do?

Well, I had a BK15 in my pack, guess it's that or leave it.

5 minutes and 1 song later (my chopping music) , the tree lays slain by the not-so-choppy but still capable BK15.

My final path, quite the fun trail.

Fire prep with the 9/16.....and then a little kitchen work with the 16 'cause I still had it on my belt and figured I'd give it a go for slicing carrots.
Surprisingly OK on the cutting board.

Thinking about blacking out the Micarta and making it a total SpecOps knife.
