  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What did you use your Becker for today

I used my Cammilus BK10 to cut the heavy duty zip-ties from my daughters new loft bed before assembly.

My inlaws have been visiting for a week (or so) Brought my nephew with them, We did some carving and firemaking while he was here.

Eskabar worked great for his "marshmello stick" (he's only 7)

And I'm now the "coolest uncle in the whole world" - Tooooooo Fuuuuuuny.

Good little kid.

There, you guilted me out Flexxx. I hadn't had the tools out for a while.:o
I tossed some of the big boys in a bag and brought them along on a metal detecting trip. Nothing scientific here, but I'll give my impressions anyway seeing that many were together at the same time. All of these knives were very sharp, many could easily slice printer paper. Initial impressions are that the Pot Belly was the best chopper of the group, followed by the Mag Camp , Brute, Campanion, Rajah 2. OK, some of this may sound wonky to you, or not seem logical. It was like this for me. The Pot Belly has serious mass and a very thin edge (hollow grind) so it bites deep for those two reasons. The Mag Camp was a surprise. It bites surprisingly deep (thin and very sharp) for its weight (light\moderate). This is why I rate it higher than the following thicker blades. The Brute. Well hell, it's a war club. It does the job basically out of sheer mass. My beloved Campanion could have switched spots with the Brute actually. I had it sharpened to were it dragged\cut printer paper. It does the job with mass but with a bit more effort than needed for the Brute. (It would have kicked ass if there was a batoning challenge). Finlay I wanted to see how the light weight BK-5 faired against the Rajah 2. I will never go really hard with either knife so a moderate chopping comparison seemed realistic. This may not have been fair to the BK-5 because it has less blade mass and a different shape than the Rajah, but for my use intent, I wanted to compare their chopping. I cut the same live limb thickness off in 30 strokes with the deeper biting Rajah, and 45 with the BK-5. These were just casual impressions and your milage may vary with use. :)

And I also took some time to play more with the BK5 to further my review.

i have been intrigued by the Rajah II for sometime... seeing how BIG it is compared to a Potbelly makes me giggle in obscene ways :) moo hah hah

now, i just have to see if someone wants to sell/trade me one someday :)

also on the want list are some interesting large folders, yeah, i have other interests than Becker - shocker right?

i got out of the habit of having a weekly rotation... traded some out, one in particular i should have kept because i keep thinking about it (xykar folder)... then again, i never REALLY liked carrying it. so it goes.

maybe i'll go into the "way back" and grab some folders i used to carry but put away. i'm nostalgic like that. the new stuff on the market is always new and shiny though. in some ways, i'm glad i didn't trade out the old stuff. now it's collectible ;P

I used to be really self conscious about having such a large folder but got used to it fairly quickly. I will never beat the bejeezuz out of it like some guys, wiz bang lock or not, it's still a folder. But it is surprisingly effective and I would trust it in a pinch.

I just wanted to clarify my previous point. I did not mean that the Mag Camp BK-5 (for myself) was a better practical wood chopper than the Brute or BK-2, or that it was more effective than these two. I just wanted to say that the BK-5 (for myself), was more effective than I expected it to be for its weight. It surprised me in a side by side comparison. And I attributed the thinner razer sharp blade for allowing it to punch a little above its weight class.

They posed for a some pictures of this weeks work :D
but only a couple of them were needed....

Those sheaths look awesome brother. Very nice work.

I used my Bk2 and Bk7 to clear some over grown brush and to baton some wood. They worked great for both tasks. This was my first opportunity to use my new knives.
