What did you use your SAK for today?

Broke down a cardboard packaging tube so that it could fit in the recycling.

Had a bunch of boxes too big to fold into the recycle bin, and the Cadet was the closest to volunteer for duty. Up until recently, the only thing handy was a box cutter, which was more aggravating than anything cutting up this bigger stuff. But now I’ve got knives everywhere. The SAK just blasted right through it all like a light saber through cheese. Gave it a quick honing when I was done, and it still melts through paper. I love this little guy.

They come every week, but I usually go every other week, alternating between the regular trash and recyclables. With the kids out of the house, we don’t generate anywhere near as much trash as we used to … except for those occasional Amazon binges. I don’t usually cut up the boxes, because it had always been such a pain in the ass with the box cutter. I never could figure out why they call it that, since it’s so bad at doing that job. Great at opening them, but that’s about it. Next time I’ll try one of my *good* blades and see how that does just for grins; but the Cadet is always the closest at hand, so that’s probably going to get the most use.
