There’s nothing worse than a smoke detector chirping in the middle of the night. Especially when you can’t figure out which one it is.Needed to clean up a contact point on a smoke detector. It decided to start chirping at 4 AM. New battery didn’t solve it so down it came until this morning. Also cleaned the fly dung off of it

It´s funny that it´s called a parcel hook (if what I have heard is right), because on old Swedish ladies knives it was said to be used to tighten boot and corset laces, and that tool is only seen on smaller ladies knives
It's certainly suited to the task. My most common use for the hook is actually pulling throw line to set ropes. Works great in that role. It´s funny that it´s called a parcel hook (if what I have heard is right), because on old Swedish ladies knives it was said to be used to tighten boot and corset laces, and that tool is only seen on smaller ladies knives![]()
Comes from the time that boxes sent through the mail were tied closed. The hook was used to secure the none working end of the string while the working end was tied securely around all 6 sides of the box. With out a hook or a third hand, it is very hard to get the string tight. That's why it's called a parcel hook. It´s funny that it´s called a parcel hook (if what I have heard is right), because on old Swedish ladies knives it was said to be used to tighten boot and corset laces, and that tool is only seen on smaller ladies knives![]()

Been there more times than I can count.
