What did you use your SAK for today?

Used my S18 small file to undo a shoelace knot on my New Balance sneaker shoe strings.....both had a small knot that was pulled so tight a toothpick couldn't help! That little small file worked like a charm! I went to a gun show & a dealer was selling a SAK S18 for $20!! IT was a "MINT" S18! I know in the past I commented I did NOT need another SAK S18...how could I pass up a perfect S18 for $20!!!

I've been doing this exercise where I make a pile of scrapings from pine and try to light it on fire with a ferro rod, all using one knife. I started with fixed blades, but today it was my SAKs' turn. First up was the Tinker. Some people complain that the reamer is a T and not inline, and it can flex in two directions. While this is true, I had no problems using the reamer to complete this exercise. I also tried using the can opener blade, but it was surprisingly ineffective. Next up was the Farmer. The awl on the Farmer is almost legendary for throwing sparks, and it handled the trial with ease. The back of the saw was also very effective. I've had these implements for a decade, only now have I really learned to use them.

Used my Spartan large blade to clean up some rough edges of lumber my brother in law used to build raised gardens we built for the mother in law , also to open the compost bags once filled with top soil. Used the small blade to drain some blisters, then the awl to unblock a tomato sauce bottle at tea time. Toothpick came in handy after eating some delicious bbq chicken for lunch . Used the bottle opener to pry staples out of a nail packet as well. A busy day all in all.

Edit: forgot I used the large blade to cut a couple of buns in half at lunch
