What do you do for a living?

Seems like that promotion carries more risk to your safety

It may be a toss, in CID we’d go grab folks with warrants.....everything from shoplifting to murder. But that was a known event, so we prepped for it.

Patrol, you never know who you’re dealing with.

But at least I get more opportunity to use my knives!

Was a G-Man for 20 years and retired. (Federal Bureau) Now I am a rancher. If it's broke, I fix it.... If it ain't broke..... somebody will break it and I'll have to fix it. Ranch life in West Texas. Can't beat the sunsets! 300 head of cattle... Pray for rain!

Shot, stabbed, broken bones, seeing decaying people every day, burnt children, you name it...i saw it. Now i help in healing cancer.

Yeah, I'm not sure that I could deal with that, especially when it happens to babies and children. I have LEO's in my family and I've heard some terrible stuff during my life. I really don't know how yall can do that job, and I have a lot of respect for you guys!

I've just started working as a Node.js developer. I used to be a manager at a logistics company, but it was so boring for me. Moreover, I never dreamed about this kind of job. So, I quit, did an online course (and of course, self-taught) and now I finally have a job I really like and that hopefully will allow me to have a better life.

Retired union Glazier, DC-16. Everyone always asks what a glazier is. We are the window guys of the commercial construction industry. The glass and aluminum window systems you see on commercial buildings is fabricated and installed by Glaziers.
Now I have an easy job at my local Rural King.

Like the sopranos. It’s “ who-er”
Not just the Sopranos. In NYC all the kids said it that way growing up, especially, as I recall, in elementary school.

Not sure when it was that we learned the proper pronunciation.

(Pretty funny looking back on calling girls in the fifth grade by that epithet. And accusing them of wearing "falsies". LOL)

I have been a Power Lineman for the last 29 years, Navy man before that. More importantly, I’m the proud father of 5 amazing kids and hubby to the most beautiful and amazing woman in the multiverse.

When I grow up, I really want to retire in a state EAST of dirty, dirty Washington where folks are kind, relaxed, hard-working, and still proud to be Americans. Friendly gun and knife laws wouldn’t hurt my feelings either. Does such a place exist?

I'd say there are places like that scattered around these United States. How long they will last is up to all of us.

I'm in a pocket like that in western NC. (Of course, everything is to a greater or lesser degree. You can find examples of dolts everywhere.)
