What do you guy wear as far as sun glasses?

I have some nice glasses...Oakley A-wires and Smith Sliders, but I tend to revert to cheapies I get at Longs. Usually aviators or similar.

I lost a pair of polarized Bolle Vanadiums. Kicking myself over that one.

I now own Oakley Ducati Straight Jackets and Oakley Juliets (fire iridium/plasma). I wear the Juliets more often though because they fit better.

Got the Straight Jackets for 66$ shipped on ebay, I consider that fair. I think the Juliets are overpriced at any price over 200, but I got them NIB at 245$. If I ever have to replace them in the future, I'm hunting for a used pair on ebay, which should run $150 -/+10.

Screws on the Juliets strip easily. And Oakley's customer/warranty service refuses to send out spare screws, for a 350$ MSRP frame, not to mention a limited 1 year warranty. Though I'm not surprised, they were bought by Luxxotica in 2007, though I heard their CS was falling before then.

And I hate Oakley's marketing. "X-metal Ultra hi-strength X METAL® Titanium frame material." Throw in O matter (their plastic frames) and Unobtanium (yeah, believe it or not, it's rubber). Seriously, that's about as gimmicky as Dark Ops mystery CTV2 blade steel.

Well, here's a pic anyways. At least they look alright.

I really need to pick up a pair of glasses that have the shade changing lenses (I wear glasses that people with normal vision could probably see the moon with). Right now, just clip ons...

Sunglasses are ESSENTIAL here in Florida. I got a pair of Maui's a few years back and can't imagine I will ever own anything else. I've got three pairs now.

oakley flak jackets, i was made fun of by a friend when i bought "such an expensive pair of sunglasses"
he ended up getting a pair of half jackets a while after, he now agrees with me on the fact that there is a difference between good and cheap sunglasses
oh, and i found him 2 sets of lenses and a case for $2 dollars, a pawn shop didn't know what they had, i bought them thinking they might be flak jackets (they weren't)
oh well, i got my money back (the lenses were actual oakley lenses, one set of black iridium lenses, and one set of ice iridium (i think, but they were polarized), and the case was an oakley vault case)

I like my eyes, so nothing but Oakley's for me. Scar for mountain biking and running, Bottlecap for motorcycling, XX for driving/casual. Just ordered some SI Flak Jackets and several lenses to replace the aging Scars for mtb/running. Sadly, that will probably be my last new Oakley purchase, as 99% of their current product line is fugly as hell!

I have been wearing a pair of Oakley Radar Range for the last few years.

Kaenon Hard Kore C12 (copper) tint. Restful to the eyes yet shows detail with excellent contrast. I have worn this model nearly every day for the last ten years.

I'm surprised so many people like Oakley so much. They are over priced, have a cheesy 1 year warranty and you HAVE to have the receipt, and most snap together like they were made by a toy company. I had a pair that the coating started peeling off within a couple months and they wouldn't stand behind their product. They were a gift so I didn't have a receipt and they wanted almost a $100 to replace the lenses with new polarized ones. I could get a new pair at the time for another $20.

I now have Costa Del Mar Harpoons with the 580 lens. I had a pair that I cracked a lens and the store gave me a brand new pair with the upgraded lens and said they would deal with the warranty. I just got a pair of Smith Backdrop with polarchromic glass polarized lenses and they are really nice and have a lifetime warranty. They are pretty cheap for what you get. I also really like the Maui Jim Peahi glasses and will probably get them for my birthday. I also like Electric Technicians. Being in Florida having nice glasses is required. Especially since I'm now in my 30s and still have 20/15 vision so I want to protect my eyes.

^^I've heard from several owners of Oakleys who've had the same problem with the coating peeling off and Oakley being difficult about replacing them. There's been several other similar threads (can't remember which forum, could have been here) where people have said the same thing.

classic, stylish, efffective, comfortable...

Interestingly, I hate Oakley with a passion, although my favorite pair to-go are my Oakley Juliets. But you hit the nail on the head: overpriced, terrible warranty and customer service, and obvious company emphasis on marketing over quality control.

They have some nice designs, and some horrible ones.

But if some company started producing high quality knockoffs of the Oakley models I'm interested in, I wouldn't have any reservations against giving them my business.

Overpriced, well sure. But Ray Ban, etc are equally overpriced. If you know anyone who works for the gov't (state or fed) or is in the military you can get certain Oakley's 50% off.

Got me a pair of Oakley Fives 2.0.
Been waring them for years, put them though hard use, and they haven't quit on me yet.
I drop them quite a lot (I forget when I have them on my hat sometimes) and their no worse because of my clumsiness.
I love their simplicity, since they are only 2 parts: the frame and the lenses. I've had them for a good while, and its about time for a new pair of lenses, or a new pair of Oakleys.
Only bad part is, none of their new styles appeal to me aside from the half-jackets.

Anybody here own a pair of Maui Jim Maui Cat IIIs? I need some good polarized glasses and these look great, just never owned anything from Maui Jim. Any experience?
