  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What do you hope to accomplish in 09?

I hope to improve my shop equipment and become a better knifemaker.
Hey I'm gonna be 35 next month but I still feel like a kid:D
Jake, if you come out to California, maybe we could have a Cali gathering with Mike and some other folks around here. It would be great to meet some of you guys.

As my family is getting larger each year or two, I need to build a bigger house. I plan on cutting some douglas fir trees and building trusses out of them for the new great room and kitchen I plan to add. I hope to expand my knowledge in woodcraft with this project in mind. Mostly, I hope for continued good health and spirits for me and my family, and all the W&S folks also.

(1) Improve my physical conditioning and lose some weight;

(2) Work with my traditional bows more;

(3) Find a good outdoor-oriented girlfriend!

I hope to spend much more time with the whole extended family this year and do some camping with all of them. The kids and grandkids and their families.

I would like to see my wife get to retire this year.

I wish the best for all of my friends here at BF.

I wish to see less ghosts and god willing, see our troops come home to their families. I fear that it won't happen though.:(

Best wishes guys and gals:thumbup:

Hmm 09 ha.....

Well I plan on hanging with Jake, taking another class at the WLC, Getting the family out alot more for camping trips, hopefully spend less on knives, practice my orienteering, get to more gatherings, maybe if I try real hard I will impress my GP with a good post.

I really will be and all ready am studying up on different plants and trees. I would like to be able to identify and be able to use 100 different type of plants/trees by the end of 09. Thanks to my GP I have the tools to hopefuly get there!

I'd like to meet a few more members, buy Esav a drink, debating on taking the basic course with WLC in late summer, although, that will mean cancelling our fly-in fishing trip. The wife and I are talking about that one. I have to get around to building myself a couple of figure 4's and set to work trying to learn bow-drill friction fire. I'm going to try to buy fewer knives and use the gear that I have. Finally, I want to set up a contest with a special prize to W&SS members but that one will wait for a lull since there have been so many great contests recently and on-going.

Well then, I have a solution for you. Do your fly-in fishing trip with your wife, and arrange a day or two up here - Fig. 4's, friction fire (bow drill and hand drill) and what ever else.

Thats a great goal Tony. Plants is something I am quite interested in. Big subject, and I have no idea where to start. Flowers? Mushrooms? Trees? Shoot, makes me dizzy to think about.

Buy no more knives........there I said it !!!

Pay more attention to my wife !!!!

Try and bring y'all better pics than in 08 which will include the new pup alongside Maisy !!!

This is not directed at you, bro, but it reminds me of an old saying, "Take good care of your wife, because if you don't, somebody else will!"

Lot of truth in that saying.

I`d like to be able to have more time with my family, and hopefully, continue doing what I enjoy, making knives. I really need to get back to fishing more, and taking the grandkids hiking.

My #1 goal is to enjoy life with my son and begin to teach him (he's 5 months now) all that mother nature has to offer. Make sure the wife and I still find plenty of time for eachother in the midst of a new child and all the day to day BS we get caught up in.

Continue to work towards my career change....

I also need to hit the trails more and do some more fishing, both of which help to clear my mind. Go camping more than once in 09 :(

Oh - and I need to learn to sharpen knives a heck of a lot better than I currently do :)

I'm hoping to spend more time outdoors. I want to take my family camping at least a few times this year. I also would like to spend more time in Northern Wisconsin trout fishing with my father on the Namekagon River.

I hope to just get outdoors this year.I haven't been hunting in over three years, but if I can get outdoors for a camping/fishing trip for at least a week with the little lady,I'd be very happy.:)

Of course I want to spend as much time as I can outdoors this year.

Spend more time using the stuff I have and less time buying more.

Meet some of the good people here.

Make my first knife.

Get back to West Virginia (had to cancel 2008 trip).

Fill the freezer with Walleye, panfish and a wild turkey or two.

Get my CPL (concealed Pistol License).

I just hope to get out in the woods. I sprained my low back and have been out of action for a month, and it makes you appreciate just being able to get outside and walk around.

2009......
Get the "Family out more" less solo....
More fishing, camping...

hopefully buy less blades(I doubt it but I shall try)
Eat better...Drink less...

I guess I should add quit smoking cigarettes to the list. I am planning to throw em down after my birthday.
