What do you think of this Peace Maker knife

I think the one knife premise has merit. I also feel if one knife was "it" that it should be a bigger blade (larger than the typical 4" inch versions). My reasoning for this is just based on my needs however. Like I said when I camp I like a larger knife for batoning wood, rearanging coals/wood in the fire, food prep cutting chores, splitting branches for kindling and double as a defensive weapon for any legged beasts that may be lurking around. A larger knife gives me more peace of mind to be honest.

.....gotta ask....whats the pouch?
be safe... Ted

I had the same question. I could use a few of those myself.

Bryan, I have been loading your inbox with my comments on the Peacemaker. I am very anxious to wrap some hot plastic around one of these - mainly because that gives me a chance to handle it:D:D As I said already, it has an air of quiet confidence, unassuming, unpretentious, like something a long-hunter would have stuck in his sash-belt while carrying a flint-lock. Very "Early American" with wild roots but the refinement of today's "production" methods and tooling. You KNOW I want one - that was just n case yoiu did not pick up on that in the last several e-mails I sent:D

Hi all I heard that russia is still in georgia and that they may be putting some poeple in camps like consentraion type do not know if it is true or not but the fact remains that being ready to leave your house or work area with what is on your belt and the cloths on your back i think is giving more merrit to the have the knife whatever knife you choose to be with you and be able to do it all. For right now it is two fixed blades on the same sheath and my little survival pouch. One 6" blade and one 4" plus some other goodies. The best of both worlds for a combo i think. LOL but who am I LOL

Ok Thanks for the kind comments on the osage handled Peace maker and the orange on. to asnswer some ?s that I have read.

Diamond you mentioned a 10" blade I have read and heard that really any thing longer that roughly 6" 0-1 steel it would be better to use a spring steel like 5160 I am no expert on that so take it for what it is worth.
I am not sure how I would carry that every day and all day either LOL
but a little longer knife does make some chores easyer.
I have pocket knives but I normally use one of my fixed blades it is just convenite, do no have to open it and close it and stuff like that. for small chores a little knife is good for that.

Stomper yea that movie is pretty good Kathy and I started to watch it again last night after I got off the computer It was around 11pm when i got to bed and I did not get it finished will today thought while having lunch, thanks for the comments.

jds1 how are the knives working for you?:D

Kv and Andy yea the osage is a neat look and what a handle. the campers of old they carried large and small knives and some of those old knives still have the wood handles on them. in this pic of gramp pa and me, in 1936 he went to a school in beatrice ne to learn how to make chisles and knives

005-2.jpg

his brother who is a couple of years older than the man in this pic, the brothers wife told me that she still has and uses the knives that they made
back then.

untamed your said it

kgd a little more rounded that is a thought:D

Ted in the pouchs are a matchsafe that has a compass and a whistle not the greatest but they do work for now any ways LOL and a sharpener the matchsafe has cotton, a firesteel , fish hooks and line and some needles.
and there is a little mirror in there too.

Bryan,
I just got home (left early to go to the dentist) and found that red HLK on the desk - SWEET!! Can't wait to see that Osage Peacemaker! This is going to be a busy and exciting week. I have the HLK and an SAK to do, a RAT-3 and a pair of forceps - two (forceps and SAK are piggyback projects on other sheaths. I will handle the HLK a bit and get you some feedback but from first appearances, this is a unique knife and, yes, "Handy Litle Knife" was my first thought when I opened the package.

If this was gonna be my "only" knife, I might want it a little thicker, say 3/16". But that's just me. It's good looking just as it is.

thanks Dutch I have one in 5/32" thick but the 1/8" seems to be pretty solid.
Jeff sounds good I will talk to you later.

Bryan,
They are all right, the Osage is the right look for this knife. It is still missing something to me and that is a nice patina from a few weeks in the kitchen!:)

Jeff H/Bryan-Maybe a good name for the new knife should be HULK (Handy Little Ultralight Knife) that way you can make it in green and when someone makes you mad you can tell them, "You wouldn't like to see my knife when I am mad"!

-RB

I like it. I think your producing some great stuff. I use the one you made me a lot. Have you considered something like a Cumberland knife?

I really like orange handled knives and all, but that osage is the hottest thing since sunburn

I like the overall design of the knife as well.

Brian

Bear It has already got some patina started on it. I used it today some.
The hulk and the saying LOL I really like that one LOL

Barber a 5" one is on the works.

Rocky the cumberland is a neat knife I will have to think on it.

Brian thanks for the comments and it was great chatting with you today on the phone

take care all
Bryan

Looks very nice and practical. There is a reason why ketchen knives have the blade sticking down. I also like that it is not tacticool - more friendly looking

Can you show and expanded view of what is and in your kits?

& Do you have the upgraded bulbs for your mini maglights?

Hi David here is a few pics for you hope this helps.
In this pic this is what I have on the water bottle pouch.

101_0490.jpg

in this pic this is what I keep in the pouch that I got from BQ
The Orange knife is the PSKK 4" that I make but I am going to replace it with a 4" Peace maker as soon as i get it them done.

Here is a pic of the contents of the Doug ritter survival kit and I put some other goodies into it to.

100_0176.jpg

The shole thing weighs in a around 10 pounds with the axe about 8.5 pounds with out the axe i have several of thes kits made up and keep one in my truck and car and buy the door of our home. I just sling it over my shoulder and go.

Bryan

and yes I have put the led bulbs on the kit i also some time carry my double bit hatchet that can slide down the back side of the survival pouch. Like in this pic

101_0105.jpg

Hi all, I started the first of the Three Peace makers for my survival kits here is a pic of the beginning stages. It has a 4.5" handle and a 4" long by 1/8" by 1 and 1/8" wide blade. I will of corse put on orange handles LOL
It is a survival knife right I want it easy to see if set down or dropped at camp or long the trail LOL. I will post a pic when it is all done. The knife blank is in
between the two bigger Peace Makers and the knife blank on the bottom is a PSKK 4" ( Personal Survival Kit Knife ) this one has a 4" long by 1" wide by a 1/8" thick blade with a 4.5" long handle.
