What do you use more, pocketknife or flashlight?

Lately... a flashlight. Only cuz the neighbors in my new apt complex don't pick up after their dogs. I don't wanna step on dookie.

I am a residential plumber so the flashlight gets used a lot. Carry two knives but the flashlight gets the most use.

Depends on the day. I work in a restaurant so it's always dark, but I also have to cut stuff open regularly. I'd say knife edges out, but there's no damn way I'd go without either.

I use both pretty equally every day. I also have EDC'd both for the last 2 decades and feel naked without either of them. Just last week I was in the mall around 5pm and the power went out while I was in a store. Guess who saved the day with some light so the cashier could lock down her register?

Probably use the flashlight more. Had the lights go out a few times in a windowless office years ago and had to fumble my way out. Don't want to be in that position again and getting harder to see in low light as I get older. I always have a Streamlight Stylus Pro in my shirt pocket and a Streamlight Nano on my keychain. Also have a UtilitacII folder in one pocket and a RAT 2 in the other pocket.

I had the lights go out in the bathroom w/one of those wind past 10 timers. Didn't check the timer before I began my business. I was glad to have the light w/me!!

Knife of course. I keep a light in my truck and house but not on my person. I don't carry water, fishline and hooks or para cord either.

I hear ya loud and clear on the harder to see in dim light when older. I use my flashlight a heck of a lot, when down in the laundry room, and I'm looking for stuff on the storage shelves. Most of the stuff is in milk crates, and with a small flashlight I can see into the crates in spite of the dim light. Or looking for a certain item in the pantry, and the light helps see the labels on the stuff in back on the bottom shelf.

Lights are good for senior citizen.

Depends on the day. I use both often enough that it's worth carrying both. Some days the flashlight gets the workout, some days it's the pocket-knife, other days it's the Leatherman tool that is the third leg of my daily pocket tool loadout.

I only recently discovered the joy that is small powerful LED lights, so now I have several of them scattered around the house and with me. I was used to the big, bulky, and somewhat dim D-Cell incandescents, so these little gizmos are quite cool.

I learned a long time ago that at a minimum, there are two items handy to have on my person at all times...a pocket knife and a small flashlight. I probably use the flashlight more (both day and night), but I wouldn't give up either. Currently the knife is a SAK, and the flashlight a Fenix E15.

I definitely have to say flashlight. I'm a communications tech and need it often. Although my knife is not far behind as I use it in every possible application.

I use my knife daily, I hardly ever use my flashlight. I work indoors, with light, and that is usually sufficient. The flashlight only gets used if I drop something and it rolls under a cabinet or desk or something, or if there's a power outage.

If I have pants on, then I have a knife and flashlight in my pockets. The knife is usually a Bradley Alias 1, and the light is a Fenix L1T V2.0.

As for my knife, I'm the man of the house, and there are things around the house that need cutting everyday (mostly plastic). I also work on a lot of craft projects at home, so I use my knife for that as well.

As for my light, once again, I'm the man of the house. And that means I'm often performing tasks that require me to see in dark or shadowy places. At night I use my light outside, and I often use it inside rather than turn on the overhead light. It's often more convenient for me to simply pull my light out of my pocket and hit the momentary switch for the brief moment of light I need rather than walk over, turn on the overhead, then go and do what I needed to do, then walk back and turn of the overhead.

It's impossible for me to say which one I use more because I use both on a regular basis. And besides, I just use my tools, I don't keep track of how many times I use them.

I've used my light to make sure I've got the correct fiber optic cable on a few occasions. shine the light into one end, have a co-worker look at the other.

I say knife, I am always finding things in need of cutting. My personal knives are always sharper than what's in the kitchen drawer, so I tend to use what in my pocket vs the kitchen drawer.

As far as lights go, I keep a single AAA sized Maglite on the keychain, a Streamlight Sidewinder in my backpack, a Streamlight who-knows-what model in my car, and a Streamlight PT2L in my camping/hunting/BOB. Don't really have a high demand for light even working nights, but as someone has previously said "I'd rather have and not need, than need and not have.

I am also the guy with a Firesteel on my keychain.

I carry a Fenix E05 on my keychain. I don't use it very often but it's on me every day just like my knives. Anymore I carry my Spyderco Domino and either a Queen mini trapper in amber bone or GEC #15 radio knife in ebony.
