What do you want?

Incorrect. It is not compressed, but a true stand alone vine material. I named it Silver Vine and am/was only source, but have lost contact with my jungle supplier. Hope to have a new supply for Blade show in Atlanta. Not sure if anyone else has started using the name, but it would be mis leading.

My apologies then. I saw a couple pictures of the stabilized blocks and it looked like the leaves and material in a stabilized matrix hence why I didnt think it was solid plant material if that makes sense. Looks killer which ever. Hope you get some.

Afzelia burl- Another one that always gets the, "What did you call this wood?!?!?" response. I never would have heard of this one if not for Mike Ludeman at WSSI. I bought several blocks of it from Mike around 12-13 years ago at a show. As best as I have been able to "research" it, Afzelia is a very close cousin to Amboyna, but technically not the same. Coloring and figure is just a touch different than any Amboyna I've ever had my hands on. Oddly, many guys have heard of the VERY rare version of this called Afzelia Lay (I have 1 set of scales I've been hoarding for about 15 years, LMAO). This is the burl---

like this one? :D

I've got another 2x2x10 block. not QUITE as great as this one, but i still have a knife worth off this block. the fact my wife's family is Lao makes it really special! :)

Is Ringed Gidgee something you usually stock? A friend sent me a couple of slabs (that he got from you) and I'm really liking the look.

Anything special I need to know when working it? It's stabilized.

I have a batch of Ringed Gidgee on the way from Australia. Should be arriving soon.
If it was Ringed Gidgee from me, it is not stabilized.
When working it just use sharp abrasives and be careful not to overheat the wood.
Works a lot like ironwood but does not like to be power buffed.

724wd--- Yep, that's the stuff! :D

Strigamort- Ringed Gidgee is a great wood! It's what happens when a block of Koa and a block of Ironwood collide... ;)

It's a bit of a bugger to finish IME, but that might just be because I've only used it a few times. I definitely recommend hand finishing all the way, and NO power buffing.

It's a great candidate for black G10 liners if you need thicker material. :)

Mark - I purchased a very nice piece of Camel Thorn from you a couple of years back. I've really come to like the Acacia woods in general. A lot of them have bold figures with lots of colors - and they are typically very hard and dense woods.

Ted,
I will try to find more camelthorn. For those that don't know, it is another Acacia that grows in desert conditions.
Maybe this time I might find some figured pieces. But even the plain straight grain stuff looks nice.
