What Else You Collects Other Than Khukuris?

:
The short answer is everything!!!!

The long answer........
These are the ones I only indulge in occasionally now......Seldom pass up a good deal.

A modest collection of beer steins with most of them being the Budweiser Christmas editions.

Art glass like Imperial, Fenton, and other glass makers, with Amberina, a beautiful clear red fading to gold by several manufacturers, being my favorite.

Old level wind fishing reels some retired and others in use.

Signed art prints by several ndn artists. Along with ndn artifacts and occasional ceramics and ndn art work sculpted or painted in or on stone or wood.

The most active & current...

Khukuris of course.

Other knives & swords of all shapes and sizes. I especially like old knives and unusual knives from other parts of the world.

Tomahawks.

American Indin Flutes that I have made, also several bought from other Flute Makers. Flutes and Pan Pipes from around the world usually made from wood, cane or bamboo.
One that I made is from an Antelope Horn from Africa.

And like my elder Bro, I also collect junk.

The bad part is putting things up so we will know where they are and consequently hiding them from ourselves.

I seem to be collecting memories where the older I get, the better I was.

In addition to khukuris and other blades, I like to collect owls. Not real owls! I have owls made from ceramic, glass, metal, wood, seashells, and even one made out of leather.
Also have owl spoonrest for the kitchen, an owl trivet and several nice owl pictures.
Owl be allright one of these days...yuk yuk

Dear Forumites.

One thing which make me real sad is that I collected a lot of bad habits & sinful acts in this life --- It is very hard to get rid of them --- Some elders said that it is easier to start a good deed than to get rid of a bad habits or a sinful act --- furthermore according to those elders the consistently done good deeds will automatically get rid of those bad habits and sinfull acts one by one --- so insyaa-Allaah! it is now my daily routine efforts to develope and to collect as much as good deeds especially those shown by Prophet Muhammad SAW --- please do pray for me that I could successfully achieve this sort of collections --- short of time ... isn't it?

Mohd, I would agree that bad habits and sinful acts are nothing to be proud of, but one should look at these as valuable lessons in what not to do or well earned wisdom as the elders would say. The key to good deeds is also keeping in mind these previous experiences to ensure that the good deeds are, indeed, good.

Jon, are they "true (not block)" Meerschaum? I like that kinds of pipes, though my laziness doesn't allow me. I've had total three but keep none now.

Any projectile or edged weapon. Anything else that could possibly be used as a weapon.

As you could guess, referance books. I don`t have shelf space for one more and I just bought two. Hunting the Osage Bow and The Viking Art of War.

A nice framed collection of Shoshone arrow heads and enough badges and patches to be a cop anywhere in the world.

The Sheriff just found some old Traffic Police stuff before there was a Sheriff`s Office,(it`s Dept. here), that he is bringing me today. I`ll save it for posterity. the agencies won`t.

Wrongfriend:
I'm not sure, how do you tell the difference? I bought all the meerschaum pipes in Turkey during the '70s, and have 2 "collectors" (carved head) and one "plain" meerschaum that I smoke now-and-then.

I bought most of the pipes in the collection for my father, who was a daily pipe smoker, while I was traveling in different parts of the world. I got them when he passed on, and I smoke a "plain" meerschaum, a corncob, and a nice wood one now-and-then. My dad never smoked any of the "fancy" pipes, and I guess I'm following the tradition

.

I'm not an avid pipe collector, nor very knowledgable, and only buy a new/"used" one when it "catches my eye".

The only pipe I own that's fairly unique is the scrimshaw whale's tooth pipe I bought in the Azores Islands in the early '70s.

I'm fond of pipe smoking for 13 years now. I have rare chances to see "used" pipes in the market of Japan. All my pipes except one is purchased new.
A "true" Meerschaum is said to tan after years of use, then the colour changes into amber, where block Meerschaums don't. This is what I've heard. All my Meerschaums were block Meerschaum.

I saw pipe smoking strengthen my will power, maybe because I always bite the mouce piece. When I quit pipe smoking for a few years (I was too busy), I surely got lazier as usual.

I guess they're "true meerschaum" then, at least the one that's been smoked quite a bit, because it is/has been turning brown(er) the more it's smoked.

Learn something new here all the time, I never knew there were 2 types of meerschaum.
