I have recently gone off the deep end when it comes to flashlights. I have had a PD32 for a while now and was content with it until I wanted something smaller to edc easier, so I went with the ThruNite Archer 1A (I can get a limitless supply of AAs at work). Now I am eyeballing custom made lights as well as high end American made lights. So I am curious what do you guys carry?

Surefire E2D LED Defender
Several Fenix lights
And the copper and aluminum Maratac AAA's are also always with me.

Surefire 6P (dating myself with that one) or G2. Also have several rechargeable Streamlights. In addition to these well used ones I have a metric shyte tonne of lights, Led Lenser, more Surefire, Blackhawk and some brands I can even recall now.... ;)

With flashlights making huge technological leaps just in the last few years in terms of size vs. output, regulation and efficiency, user interface with a wide choice of levels and features, various components and materials...it has essentially made large multi D & C cell lights obsolete. Today's top picks in EDC, single cell AA/14500 - CR123/16340 outputting around 500/600 lumens simply outclass and wildly over-perform the ubiquitous D-cell Maglight, especially in terms of beam quality and color rendering (and therefore much better in actual use in identifying what you're seeing)...that it is no longer necessary to carry large flashlights unless you really need a search & rescue or specialized LEO/soldier configuration.

My current favorite "pocketable" EDC AA/14500 lights are the ZebraLight SC52w at approx. $64, *(they don't get much better than this at present) and L3Illumination L10 with the Nichia 219 Hi CRI emitter...and incredible bargain at around $25.

If you're unfamiliar with today's most prolific flashlight reviewer/aficionado..."selfbuilt"...check out his dedicated review site for a quick education re: all things flashlight related, new offerings, and flashlight primers...

I want an ELZETTA! (but, I'm poor). I have a Streamlight: Stylus Pro LED (AAA 2x) Pen Light I keep handy. I need to replace the old AA Mini Mag (POS) I attach my Keys (yes, it kinda big).
I also have a KLAUS AA (I think) PA 20 I keep Bedside. Not a bad light but.....the interface sucks. I really need to look at some new KLAUS, SUNWAYMAN, ZEBRALIGHT models. I also should just buy a simple FENIX E01 single cell AAA.

Yeah, but slapping someone "upside 'o the head" with a single AA or CR123 cell light just does not have the same dramatic or educational effect as the same action with a 4 D or 6 C cell Maglite !!!!!! ;) ;)

I have a Fenix PD30 on my pack (goes everywhere with me, bought it... maybe 10 years ago?)
I have a AAA Maratac 'Extreme' on my keychain, use it a lot more than the PD30.
I gave my 5-yr-old daughter an older Gerber Infinity Ultra that I'd bought some years ago and polished the bezel, she uses it to read at night after her sister is asleep.

Streamlight MicroStream Black C4

Cheap, light, bright, reliable, and easily replaced.

Ok I found the next light on the list and its right up the same alley as the light Josh carries. EagleTac G25C2 MKII 1180 lumen light!!!!!
Dream light still remains the a custom Prometheus Alpha.

Btw Selfbuilt is awesome for anyone looking to learn about the new age lights, I have already learned so much from his reviews and his review of the G25C2 is what pushed me over the edge to get this light.

There are a lot of good flashlights available...perhaps too many to list. However, Surefire makes reliable compact lights with an excellent warranty. Many troops, LEO and wilderness professionals trust Surefire (http://www.surefire.com/truestories/cat/supporting-our-troops). I carry a Surefire E2D LED Defender as EDC. But if I venture in to the woods I carry a headlamp (Petzl or Blackdiamond) and then I add a Fenix to the day pack and a Streamlight to my waist pack.
