What folder do you hogs and piglets carry?

Looks like you've surrounded yourself with some very stand-up guys Jason!:thumbup::thumbup:

You are one lucky hog, that's for sure! :D

This one is always there with my keys :D

Grim, the gifts are amazing; there's no question. But I'll tell you that having these guys call me "friend" means even more. I'm honored to be surrounded by such people, and I'm honored to be a member in good standing here. So many people showed me love at Blade, and talking privately with Jerry was truly inspiring.

Hopefully you and I will get to shake hands some time. We've conversed more than a few times. It'd be good to meet you.

And btw...congrats on finding that XM in your pond. ;) I'm glad Paulie treated you well.

It's a shame we didn't get to shake hands.

Jason

Man, the time went by so fast! When all was said and done, I couldn't believe there were so many people there I didn't get to meet. Seemed like it went by in a blur. Next time for sure.

My EDC: The Ultimate Folder - Sebenza (MM; large). It's so reliable, solid, yet simple, the overall workmanship is amazing! It's just a beautiful knife...

The Benchmade 556 (Mini Griptilian) with a 154CM blade seems to suit me just fine...
And has proven to be sheeple friendly.

Bailey Bradshaw made this self-lock in stag for me. It's one-of-a-kind, based on an old Henckel's folding hunter model from the 1800's. To be honest, I've not been able to bring myself to carry it, yet, so I'm on the fence as to whether to keep it or not. Love the deep-relief engraving, though:

That is elegant. Beautiful but simple. Can you post a picture of the lock work and describe how it works?

I have changed my folder out. I purchased a blem JYDII Ti/SG2 and have swapped its blade out for the CPM-D2 blade from the JYDII cb. It now has the titanium scales and frame lock with the full flat ground CPM-D2 composite blade. What a great steel.

That would be quite a trick. :D

The locking mechanism (self-lock invented by Scott Sawby, from whom Bailey learned how to do it) is contained inside the front bolsters, and is activated by upward pressure on that little smooth protrusion off the tang you can see just below the front bolster. The tolerance of the bolster-to-tang fit is so close that it takes working the blade back and forth in half-open position several times just to get a little oil into the mechanism from time to time. Bailey told me he EDC'd one of his self-locks for a couple of years on his farm doing heavy-duty chores on a daily basis with it to test it out, and never had a hiccup even with it was run over by a truck tire on a muddy road--no evidence of dust, trash or moisture ever getting into the mechanism.

I understand Bailey is no longer making the design though, just because it is so labor intensive to work on something so intricate that is so demanding in terms of tolerances, when other locks will do the job without that investment of time and energy.

Thanks for the compliment,
Will

I no longer carry a folder, replaced it with a SAR3.... but do keep a CRKT M16 in the car's center console.

My large EDC folders are: a Strider Smf, Spyderco CE Chinook and I sometimes wear my MicroTech Makora II, although I never use it (I always carry a small folder along with this knife).
Other small EDC folders I carry are $35 - $45 Kershaws, a Benchmade Pardue (AO - not sure what model {?10210?} but I think I paid $40 or $50 for it, CE), or an SE Delica.
