What folder would you pick if you were a castaway on an island

Only a one bladed folder?

Probabaly a Spyderco Salt, for obvious reasons.

Or, a Warren Miller titanium/carbide blade. At least you could possible sharpen it on a rock since the matrix, (titanium), would be soft. The carbides would last for a few years before the titainium ware down past them. The hardware is all titanium to so that part wouldn't corrode.

Of course it would have to be the Bear Grylls folder... perfect for all those unforeseen events.

I would pick the Spyderco Salt.

Dang Leathermans? i can't even get them to stop rusting at home and with oil.

The Camillus MADD MAXX with the 7" blade. I like its two-handed handle. The D-2 blade would need to be polished from time to time.

Good grief!

Do you guys who choose S30V blades ever do anything outdoors? You will be fine for a month or so ... Then you will have to sharpen you 60+ Rc blade. You gunna' do that on a beach rock? Have fun with that.

Hypothetically:
Assuming I had the foresight to anticipate being marooned and only being able to have a folder and not a fixed blade, I'd choose the Cold steel Hold Out I or II for its simple, versatile design, robust construction and good blade geometry. Caveat: I do not own these knives and don't plan on getting either one.

Realistically:
In reality, I'd probably have my Victorinox Alox Farmer on me, and I'd be more than happy with it.

Strider smf, I can make the right size screwdriver heads for the screws out of a hard wood sticks and they work great. In a repeated use situation the blade thikness becomes important, making a spear out of it and so on... all knives will break but the thicker ones will break/bend less, that's why the smf blade thikness is my choice.

leatherman supertool or a swisstool. and maby a cold steel recon 1. i want soft steels so than be "sharpend" as best as possible so shit like s30v and d2 go out the window. the supertool 300 or the swisstool are because of the amount of tools you get and how robust they are. the recon 1 because of its lock is almost a small fixed blade ( within reason) it is large so if needed i could fasten it onto a pole for hunting. i also feel blade size is a big deal incase you need to baton or cut down small branches to build a fire. i have cut down medium size limbs with a recon in a bind so i know i can do it.

Pacific salt. The older pinned ones so if it gets loose I can smack the pivot with a rock to tighten it up. If I were to complete ruin the pivot, handle, fasteners the blade would still be a good size for a spear or used as is.
