What folding blades to Busse fixed blade fans like to own?

I had been using my Benchmade Ares 730 until last week when I seemingly misplaced it :(:thumbdn:

The last folder I'd bought prior to this thread was a Benchmade ACFK that was featured in an old American Survival Guide article long wit some Busse - a Steel Hear, I think. Except maybe a ZT0300. I think I bought one of those.

Anyway, I bought several in the last month. A Spyderco C185TIP, a ZT 0620, a ZT 0900BLU, a Benchmade 710-1401, a Benchmade 484-1601 Nakamura, and a ZT 0562 that should be delivered tomorrow.

Overall, I'd sat it's hard to beat the ACFK that I bought 15+ years ago. Second place would probably be the ZT 0900BLU, although the Benchmade 484-1601 Nakamura would not be too far behind. I really like the flipper on the ZT, but I also like the lightness and the Axis lock on the Benchmade.

The Spyderco C185TIP is similar in size to the ACFC, but lacks the smooth and easy operation, and I prefer the ACFK's G10 to the Spyderco's metal handles.

I did not like the thumb disk on the ZT 0620 at all.

Is there anything out there with a flipper like the ZT 0900, and with an axis lock and lightweight handle like the Benchmade Nakamura? It seems like that would be the ideal combination.

For my needs, the ZT 0900 is a great EDC, well built, fast & beautiful, I like flippers & the monochrome design. Of course I also have 2-4 other knives on me at any given time, one of which is a MS Ergo LE (yes I've been known to carry 5 knives at once). For folders I've been Jonesin' on Medford Praetorians lately, I have all 3 sizes now.

I have a Praetorian and it's a great knife, as long as there are no warranty issues. If there is, that's where the nightmare begins. They are not like dealing with Busse on warranty claims. Is too bad cause I love the knives, but the CS is lacking and the owner isn't my kind of person to put it kindly

This has been in my pocket for a couple weeks now, it sure holds a nice edge and is comfortable in the hand.

I've never called them or had a warranty claim. But I have seen a few of his youtube videos and I definitely see where you're coming from. I'm with you on that last one.

I had the recon 1 w/ aus 8 and gifted it a while back... it was a great knife. I think it's time for one with the new steel. The OD green looks great on yours

Lot's of cool stuff guys! My tastes run from cheap to higher end so I am glad to see the Busse family is very similar. I'm especially fond of Cold Steel and have a number of them in rotation. Really hard to beat for the money especially in recent years, the Carpenter steels combined with the Triad lock for usually under $125 is amazing.

Today I was carrying my old friend, a Dozier Workhorse tablock etched with a 2002 makers mark. I think this qualifies now for old school cool and represents one of the earliest flippers, not to mention the 5" blade and being held together with two screws and no stop pin. Pretty innovative for the time.

The wide variety offered between Spyderco, Benchmade, and Kershaw / ZT has been enough for me. Tried CRK, and compared to some other Ti folders by the aforementioned 3 companies, I just didn't see the value. To each their own.

And as usual, pics!!! :D

Those are some nice knives, Spyderphreak! All of them right up my alley! Have a lot of the same ones.

Here's a few more I pulled out of the knife drawer this morning for a quick shot.

Here's what I am carrying today because this thread needs some more slipjoint content. This one is an R E Brown custom that had a crack in the bone. I sent it back to him along with some antique Westinghouse Micarta for new scales.

I'm a fixed blade snob but everyman's folder kind of guy. Plus they sharpen up really well.
