Several folks (displaying my talent for understatment) have suggested specific manufacturers. Well, keep in mind that such a forum would be best done with the cooperation of that manufacturer. They may not have the resources to support such an effort at this time.
Also, a quick check of activity in the manufacturer/maker-centric forums we have shows that while active, they tend to have less draw.
So, in case we can't get one of the manufacturers we might want, perhaps we could all tighten our thinking caps just a notch and come up with some more subject-oriented forum suggestions.
I'll start by suggesting a Knife Shows forum to exchange information about upcoming shows and share reviews of recent shows, and maybe to arrange meetings at shows.
The community forum is a bit of a hodge podge. Many of the posts there fall under the category of "humor". Perhaps a "Comedy Club Open Mic" forum for sharing of jokes and non-knife-related humor (just keep it clean).
Also, some recent discussions regarding some of our younger members have reminded us that this is a public forum site and that while we do have a printed policy (it's at the bottom of the very bottom of the page in a tiny font, light grey letters on a white background) that you must be 13 to particpate here, there's no attempt to verify the age of members and no attempt to keep anyone from reading most of the forum. We do have the W&C forum where particpants are screened and a password restricts access. But, the character of discussion there can be a bit rough for some people's taste. Perhaps it'd be a nice idea to compliment W&C with another password protected forum for more adult-oriented topics but where more civil rules of conduct prevail. Something of a nice lounge atmosphere might be a nice contrast to W&C's Biker Bar reputation and provide a more appropriate venue for some topics.
Sharpening seems to be a never-ending source of discussion. How about a forum on just that topic?
"What kind of knife can I carry on an airplane?" "Airport security confiscated my SAK!" And, "How I carried a broadsword past airport security." Seem to be popular threads. How about The Knives at Airports Forum?
And, as a moderator, how about the Where topics go to DIE! forum? This would be a write-only forum; nobody could read it. The only way for a topic to get into this forum would be for it to be moved into it from another forum. This way, moderators wouldn't be accused of deleting someone's precious topic.
