What happened to the m4 military?

No numbers. Roger is going to ask for a tiny dep.(like $10.00 non refundable) soon to weed out those who are not 10% serious. This might help those on the back up list.
Its over sold and will be limited to one per customer. I have been waiting a looong time for this one.......
Close to a year so far........;)

Mark, are you sure about the one per customer thing? There was no such limit when they started taking orders and many have ordered more than one... How are they going to handle that, cancel people's orders?

Well, nobody has actually ordered any. So no cancelling of orders is necessary. What you did with the email was just put yourself on the waiting list so that you can order when ready. I HIGHLY doubt they're really going to just let people snatch 4 of these, as they are so limited and have a LOT of interested people waiting.

Right.
Roger is just trying to be fair to his loyal customers.
This one was my idea, And I will be lucky to get more than one.
Give him a call. Never know.
He is trying to sell these with no flipping for $$$$.
Seems fair.
BTW I would also like (4).
IMHO its going to be the best Spyderco to date.
Only changes were I spec'd out CF & Tip up carry. Otherwise its perfect..

I haven't seen any pics, should look the same as the s30v/Ti framelock military, right?? Except for the "m4" stamp on the blade.

Edit: oh wait, it has some g10 on it, right?? hmmm

Crap! There is a way! Next time I'll ask my brother, sister, father and mother to order one as well. You'd have to pay 4x the shipping cost (which would be about $150 for me) but it's technically feasible.
I bet there's at least a few guys with a proxy on the list right now.:grumpy:

So why do you need 5 knives? I can see having 2, one as a backup. I won't get into my thoughts on this but I will say that I don't think it is right for the people who buy half a dozen LE knives to make a profit. 2 is one thing as I always buy in doubles so if I really like a design I will have a back up in case I lose one. More than that is greed.

So you got Roger to implement a one knife per person policy with this knife after the pre-order was started? But yet you want more than one? Not sure I follow.

I am going to be upset if this happens because my dad said he wanted one when I told him about it and I said that I would ask for 2. In my email I stated that I wanted 2, one for me and one for my father. I hope one of us doesn't get left out. However, Roger hasn't done this in the past and I don't think half way through a pre-order is the time to start. He did limit the M4 Rift where there were only 50 pieces to one per customer but that was known from the start.

At the time I saw it I was all:
"MAN, I can't afford that now, I'm broke!"
"May?"
"Well hot peanuts, I'm in." :D
I always wanted a Millie but never got around to getting, it just didn't get me excited enough, but this? Whooooooo wheee!
And indeed, Xmas is coming early this year! :D

Have you seen some of the collections around here? Need does not always (or usually) enter the equation.
Realistically ordering five of the same knife is pretty silly. I agree that two would be nice, and one backup should be enough for anyone.
I also would get very irritated to see a bunch of these on E-Bay.

Glad I got on the list 11/25/09.

I plan on using mine, may even swap a digicam scale on it!

Not just on E-Bay, but here also. I irks me to no end when I see M2 RSK's and M4 AFCK's selling for $350 on our own forum:thumbdn:. Sometimes there's an identical pair being sold together and you just know the greedy SOB has at least one more in the safe. Even if I had one of those to sell, I couldn't bring myself to charge more than the original retail price. Isn't it embarassing being so greedy!?! I'd be too bloody ashamed... seriously. I once tried to sell a BG-42 Sebenza for like $20 more than its original NIB price and I felt a bit guilty.

My memory is a bit hazy at the moment, but I seem to remember a note somewhere (possibly on the order page) that he might limit the amount sold to each customer if demand for this model was very high.

Personally i think limiting the amount sold to an individual is a very good idea. Realistically nobody NEEDS more than 2.
Hoarding multiples of exclusive models does none of us any good.
If I consider a particular knife so good that I cant live without it, only then will I buy another as a backup.

.... And if more of this model were ever made then we'd have a repeat of that embarrassing Orange Millie Saga from the whinging "....but I purchased 5" club

Exactly what I was thinking, though I would need a digicam scale first, or a digicam Millie... :(
I wonder if Spyderco would be willing to sell just one scale. :P

I bought one to fill the gap before these come out. It is my first military, and I am in love!

when will he start?

BTW I'm pretty ticked that it's limited to one per. I ordered two but oh well.....(shrug)

Well I got on the list November 27 with confirmation by Roger on November 28 so I welcome Roger's email request for the deposit. As long as I get the knife I'm good :)

There's only 500 to go around.

I would rather the bulk of that 500 go out to people that will actually use the knife... instead of having the expected few that stock up 3 & 4 at a time to flip them for a 200% increase later on.

I think that's a fair policy on Roger's end... he sells out his stock and more knife users get their hands on one.

And I'm one of the ones that initially ordered 2. :)

Yeah, well I'd like two too so I can have another user down the road. To be honest, I tend to use a knife I like a lot much harder when I have another in the stash.
