Yeah, well I'd like two too so I can have another user down the road. To be honest, I tend to use a knife I like a lot much harder when I have another in the stash.
Exactly the same tendency here.

Meh. Just use this one hard and SMART. Plenty of people around here have had hard use spydies for over a decade, and they're still going strong. With this steel and construction, i doubt you have to worry about it being dainty. No reason you won't have it down the road.
has anyone talked to roger about how is he going to ask for the deposit (phone, email)?
or do I have to call or email to do it?

I wouldn't worry about it. He has your contact info. I doubt he contacts all the people on the list for a deposit because that means he has to contact hundreds of people twice and run their credit cards twice. When it is time he will contact you or you will hear about it here. We're still months away.
No numbers. Roger is going to ask for a tiny dep.(like $10.00 non refundable) soon to weed out those who are not 10% serious. This might help those on the back up list.
Its over sold and will be limited to one per customer. I have been waiting a looong time for this one.......
Close to a year so far........![]()
I sent an email yesterday asking if the email for preorder was all they needed right now to hold me on the list and Ashley replied for Roger and basically said all they need is my email for pre-order (from 11/27) at this time and they have me down. If they need anything else they'll let me know.
I know he said that but if you read my reasoning it makes since. If there are 400 (probably more like 600 with the extras) people on the list and you have to call each one and have to deal with missed calls and people calling back and keeping track of who you have and have not spoke with. It takes a few minutes on the phone for each person plus a couple minutes to run the credit card, note in a file that they have paid a deposit and keep track of the receipt to put with the knife when it comes in. All this on top of normal orders and shipments and then to have to do it all over again in 4 months!? It just does not make any since as a business owner and would take probably 3 weeks to work it into normal business operations. When it is time, everyone will be contacted in the order they got on the list and you will hear about it probably a few minutes after the first person is called right here in the Spyderco forum.
I'm not saying the deposit can't happen but I would bet against it. And if it does, again you will hear about it here. There is a limited number of knives and if you got on the list late then you will just have to wait and see how it turns out. I would think if you were at the end you wouldn't want a deposit because then more people might back out because they don't have the money at the time.
If Sal is reading this, perhaps he will consider offering the Military in CPM M-4 as a "standard?"
Probably not after he seen how well that went over with some people regarding the orange Millie.
