A pooter gets you crap from the internet. A pooper allows you to give crap. Is this correct?

Munk...how could I foget to mention you! Maui, all you old timers! How-dee.

I'm doin' ok now, wife and kid fine. I could fill threads and threads with OT crap, but It'll come out over time. Here's a taste:

Chapter 1: If your friend falls in the woods and no one's around...
-------------------------------------------------------------
I was kinda depressed thru the fall and deep winter, inactive, unemotional, drained...but things are looking right now. I had a crap job with no real bennies, forced me to do some additional honest labor, like framing houses to make ends meet. The depression started with the death of a dear friend, someone who was extended family, like a blood brother, but stronger ties than that.
He was depressed, was seeing someone about it, had been taking all sorts of pain meds for some back problems. The meds he was talking were beginning to affect him adversely, and I think he was still drinking too much, which aggravated the whole thing, perhaps. He became reclusive, and uncommunicative. The doc advised his wife to get all the guns outta the house, but he somehow kept his .357 from his police days hidden somewhere. When the wife was away, he bid this world farewell in a small wooded lot on his property. The guy delivering some livestock feed found him. My buddy was a retired LEO, and a well-loved teacher at a high school. He was 39.
There were thousands of folks at his funeral. The real cause of death was kept a secret due to his standing in the community (and I'm not sure how that sits with me)...My first instincts were to scream 'foul play,' but the hard truth had come home to roost. I've never been to a funeral with so many big manly men crying their eyes out. I have not had the courage yet to ask his widow if I can go into the wood, and I don't know if I have the courage to go, even if I was allowed...

I think Uncle and my dad put it best-- "growing old is hell."
I'll amend that now with -- "not growing old is hell to the living around you."
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But enuf of battered old me. I've noted some pretty freak-ass new steel slingin' outta the himalayas like a Yeti on crack...Manjushree? Any reason they waited until I was gone to release that parallel-edged and exquisitely fullered air-slicer? And still the special wood handles show up, pretty cool! I'll hafta search back thru the old posts and see what other fine treats abound.

Ferrous.

The kamis seems to have (re)discovered swords of all types and also hanshees ... and also those huge, broad khuks whose name escapes me at the moment.

And now the Follys might be coming soon.:)

Schweet. I saw Dave Hahn is selling a few HI's over in the exchange. He has a pretty neet Chiru YCS in there...although I'm still partial to my Sanu "old school" YCS>...

Wecome back Ferrous! Good to see you back in action! We have missed our resident runic expert around here. Did you get to see the 2 or 3 USA antler handled Seax's that went out here a few months ago? Some nice stuff, and wish I had snagged one to send to you!

Regards,

Norm

"Did you get to see the 2 or 3 USA antler handled Seax's that went out here a few months ago? "

Wow. Missed that. sounds seax-quisite! I've considered rehilting mine in a traditional fashion. A VNV bud of mine threw off the coding yoke anf became a farmer, and he has a buddy who raises reindeer...so I may have a source for raw reindeer andlters, which would add a really spiffy Scanidnavian/Finnish flavor to the seax.

I got's little time for projects these days, tho. I work a lot, but get paid better than i have been paid in like 3 years.

WOOHOO! Glad to see you Keith! The door is still open whenever you get some free time...I know exactly how it is!

:D

.

Glad to see ya made it back, Keith:) the place already feels a little more complete;)

Jake

Willkommenes Haupt-, Eisenrad! I am glad that things are looking up, and that you have made it through the dark shadows.

stevo

PS ~ the scabbard is the original for the siru, perhaps it shapeshifted due to different climes :) Although, I think that the karda and chakmak where from a larger kuk, but it is all the way I got it from Bill. With the exception of me taking off the damn brass ass poker, that is :D

Nasty--thankye! Hey, is there a Khuk Khon for 05 yet? Steely and Bri! How's it goin! Good to read you.

DIJ-- Mebbe you're doing something right, and Soke's fookin with you 2C if you snap! Man, that book he signed is one of the top honor books in me library. I've gotten a kick outta the top with the daughter recenty, she thinks its magic or something.

SPECTRE! Whazzup! Molon Labe, man! (Thaks fer the hat, wearing it to the gun show this weekend. It get s alotta wear).

Howdy, Ad! Pleased to make your acquaintence. I'm glad my meager tutorials and stuff have been of use. It took me years to perfect masks and etchants. Got any pix of your work? I'd love to see it.

Hey, Ad, which Futhark do you know? Elder, Younger (Viking), Anglo Frisian, late Gothic? All of them? I have trouble keeping some of the younger futhark runes straight. the Kenaz rune kinda gets changed a lot in 1500 years. I avoid the Armanen rune row, for obvious reasons. Are you a runavitki?

3 worlds: Asgard, Midgard, and ? I'm into the traditional nine worlds model, meself. Its a little complex, but it puts Midgard at the center of the action between the upper and lower worlds.

You follow the old ways? Asatru, Anglo Saxon Rice, Theodish, Odinist, or Romuva? What flavor? Self practiotioner?

Are you a disciple of Odin? The Valknot is (I'm sure I'm 'preachin to the choir' here;) ) associated with death, but also life and rebirth. Val=death and knot (knut)=knot thus death knot, the mark of those who accept death or are bound to it. (Thus ValHalla is Val=Death anf Halla=Hall, i.e. hall of the dead.)

Me, Im a wearer of the Torshmamar, the sunwheel, and the Tiwaz.

A lot has happened to many of us, Ferrous. It looks to me you've shown up in the nick of time. As it should be.

Welcome back.
