What Has Happened to Ferrous?

Hmm, back at ya, Ferrous. This is a great place. Sorry for the bad streak you had, sounds like it's fixed now!

"The Valknot was common from the earliest Viking period. It is said to represent the three realms of existence, and the ability to travel among them."

From most excellent Ragnar's site:
http://www.ragweedforge.com/Welcome.html

I also got a viking firestarter steel from him. I collect & study history; as a celt/viking bastid most especially axes.

Got 2 HI Seax's- and they would look awesome etched. My shop was destroyed Sept. 16 2004 by hurricane Ivan. So I felt this part:

"associated with death, but also life and rebirth. Val=death and knot (knut)=knot thus death knot, the mark of those who accept death or are bound to it."

I'm looking forward to rebirth. See you in the Hall!

 "My shop was destroyed Sept. 16 2004 by hurricane Ivan" :(

That sux, man. I had some friends who lost their house in that one. no roof, everything sagging and soaked. Totalled.

Yep, I know Ragnar. He has some nice axes and stuff. Everything for the modern primitive, and then some.

I have a few degrees in History from Purdue University (General History degree, minor, and an extensive Medieval History degree--invilved lit, culture, Old and Middle english classise, art, religion, etc--very comprehensive!). I continue my studies in applied history and in book history.

I can dig up some other sources for info on the Valknot, if you like. The old ways are full of trifectas and triskuls, and threes, etc etc etc...:) My fave representation of the interlocked valknot is the 3-color variant. Black is Death, white is birth, and red is Life.

Even the most destructive and negative of Norse or A.S. runes are tempered with a comeback, since the old way in most cultures are cyclical (think Aztec/Toltec calandar here). This Hagall (Hail, the rune of destruction or wasting) can also be a signal to batten down the hatches, let go of what you cannot hold onto, and save what you can. And the sun will come out after all the hail.

I'll have to get one recent pic with Donut's Seax in hand or something. FWIW, here's the one everyone's seen for a while, and I look like that but with shorter hair.

Ferrous, isn't that the Original Pen Knife with the Sun & Moon etch on either side? Seen it in a long ago thread. Everybody passed it around making mods...

And an HI Falcata, no doubt made by Sanu. Man how I wish I had one of those. How many were made? I think Nasty has one, don't know who else.

Didn't you also have a 25" or 30" AK? Or trade it to somebody? Heber, munk?

It's nice to see two of the greatest guys in the cantina hitting it off so well:) Keith you've brought lots of joy with your return. You're like a nice set of curtains. you just tie the room together;)

With Keith back, we have the 'intelligencia' around. It used to be Beo, N2Sharp, firkin, and Ferrous. (I know I've left some off) But you could come to HI and expect a varied background of expertise.

I'm here to bring the average IQ of all the members down to an acceptable level. With all of the smart people here, it is a task that only I can undertake.

Thanks, all! GLad 2 B back, and glad to make new acq's like the fine Mr. Astra here. Ad, Heber's the collector of huge AKs, the Falcatta is the big one in my collection...there may be 3-5 falcattas made, though I've only seen two in person and 3 ever.

Sanu is my fave Kami, I miss him since he went 2 work w/ his dad. I have an old Sanu YCS, (which I have yet to see its equal), and a Sanu AK bowie. His fullers are always deep and crisp, as a fuller should be.
